    So now we're banning shirts that "might be interpreted by stupid people as violent."

    "I will hurt you physically...." does kind of say "violent" to me. I don't watch the show so .....

    But the "....and metaphysically" kind of makes it sound silly and I'd ignore it.

    Whether meant in jest or not, a student wearing anything that threatens violence in a government school is (usually) going to be in violation of the school dress code.

    "Oh, it was a joke" isn't an excuse to violate the dress code. Even if everyone was familiar with the show and the joke, it wouldn't be reason to allow a violation of the dress code. Go ahead and try to explain to a school of hundreds why it's okay to allow that shirt, but when they come in with another one from a less savory show or video game but it's still a "joke," that one isn't allowed.

    Common sense...

    Don't know what is says about my manness here, but I agree with the ladies. I have no idea what goes on on DD, so as a parent I would be a bit bothered I today's culture by any shirt that said 'I am going to hurt you'

    People who truly plan to hurt someone don't wear a shirt announcing their intentions... unfortunately.

    When I was in junior high I had several guys tell me they were going to hurt me - and some of them did :)

    The point is, my friend, that they didn't.

    Why cannot we just accept the fact that this was nothing more than an over-reaction on the part of hyper-sensitive school administrators?

    It isn't like this is the first time it has happened, and situations such as this happen frequently. Common sense amongst those in authority- i.e., those that should know better- is at an all-time low, imho.

    I just disagree old buddy. I wonder how folks would respond if a known Muslim wore a t-shirt saying 'I am going to hurt you?'

    Not everyone is aware of the Duck Dynasty culture.

    There were "100% Cotton and Your Momma Picked it" t-shirts worn in the early 90's in a school my wife taught at. Much controversy over that. It didn't say anything about hurting anyone, but it made people want to hurt someone.
