Homecoming Queen Bullied!

    Over the weekend, a southern California boy became his high schools first "Transgender" homecoming queen...and the media covered from coast-to-coast.

    By Sunday, the opposing views came rolling in, and now the teen feels he/she is being bullied, and civil rights groups agree.

    While I feel bad for this individual, I told my wife when we watched the late news on Friday night, that I wondered how she would take it when those who do not feel as like her and her classmates, begin to chime in? And now we know.

    Her's a snippet from her/his comments in the media on what is supposedly bullying? Cassidy Lynn Campbell, 16, cried tears of joy on Friday when she won the crown at her California high school, but euphoria turned to anguish when hate-filled comments began to roll in. "I can never have something good happen to me and people just be happy for me — never," the sobbing teen said in a YouTube video posted Saturday. "I'm always judged and I'm always looked down upon."

    Just like on this board, if a person is willing to stick their neck, WAY OUT ON THE LIMB, they should be strong enough to take the negative. Did this individual think that just because her/his little world of supporters made it okay? Did she/he think the world of public opinion would not be heard from?

    Her/his decision to do what she/he did take guts, now I say, she/he needs to stand up to the negative that was bound to come in.

    So my question to you is, is this bullying, or is it just the opposition voicing their views? And when does free speech become bullying?

    One thing off the bat: this has nothing to do with free speech. Secondly, someone who goes against social norms needs to have thick enough skin to handle the inevitable negativity coming their way. And showing disapproval of something you believe to be wrong is not bullying.

    Agreed, and Christians need to remember this same principle. When we choose to step outside the new 'norm' and people disagree it is not persecution.

    bullying kids

    I agree that those who stick their head up should be ready for the ax to fall ... but is it "right" to attack a child? Whether she's fully aware of the gravity of what she did or whether she was manipulated into it, isn't it wrong to scream insults at a child? WWJD in this case? Would He be part of the crowd shouting "crucify her!"? I, personally, just don't think so. And aren't we, as His body, supposed to represent Him as he represented Himself during his ministry here? Maybe it's just my weak spirit, but I hate to see kids cry. I thought I was called to be a witness, not a prosecutor.

    How it is done is important but simply speaking out about this perversion is not bullying. However the gay and transgender agenda is such that any opposition is painted as bullying which is only intended to shut down opposition.
