He affirms true christian doctrine sometimes, and other times denies it. What does this man believe????? Like Andy Stanley a major author of confusion. I cant say for a fact that Osteen is not saved as only God knows, but no question about it, he has weak understanding of the Bible. What do you say? True Christian or false convert?

Sounds like Mr. Osteen shares our faith in Christ to me. But of course when YOU decide to continually attack those who have differences with you, you want to deny them a relationship with God? Give it a break. Perhaps you alone have the unique ability (that I thought only God Himself has) to peer into the heart of another and KNOW their standing before God. If Andy Stanley is an author of confusion, perhaps you need to investigate yourself and your ability to comprehend.

    This is what he says
Sounds like pure self-help to me.

The cash. The whole cash. And nothing but the cash.
God wants us to always be healthy and loaded with cash and material wealth.

I do not know that he is not saved but he needs to either find another job or just stop pretending that what he is doing is preaching the word of God.

I won't judge his salvation but this man doesn't belong behind a pulpit. He is more fitted to be a Dr. Phil or Oprah like personality.

I think Mr. Olsteen handled himself quite well in both interviews posted in the OP.

I was reading a article in a magazine one time when Joel gave the magazine a interview. He stated when his dad started getting into poor health and pastoring a church he called on Joel to step in and fill his shoes. At that time Joel was not a preacher. This is the same situation when Billy Graham sent the call out to Franklin to come take up the mantle, at that time Franklin had to be reeled in from a life of sin. Both in my opinion are daddy called and momma sent.

    Prepared for God's Calling

Joel, the son of John Osteen, a highly respected minister of the Gospel and the founder of Lakewood Church, attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he studied radio and television communications. In 1982, Joel returned to Houston and founded Lakewood's television ministry where he produced John Osteen's televised sermons for 17 years until January 1999 when his father passed away suddenly from a heart attack.

For many years, John Osteen encouraged Joel to preach, but he always declined preferring to work behind the scenes. But, in early 1999 Joel felt compelled to accept his father's invitation and he preached his first sermon on January 17th of that year. Little did anyone know that would be the last Sunday of John Osteen's life. Two weeks later, Joel began preaching and later that year was installed as the new Senior Pastor of Lakewood Church. PRETTY MUCH THE SAME STORY BUT IN THE MAGAZINE HE TOLD IT A LITTLE DIFFERTLY.

Funny, we were just talking about Joel Osteen and his comments about the Pope and gays, in church tonight. I believe he's a "prosperity preacher" who has no business calling himself a pastor. The fact that his church is so large and his books are so popular just shows the Spiritual bankruptcy of Christians in this country. This is all I needed to see from Joel Osteen:

We do not need to assume everyone who likes him is an actual Christian.

It is a sad fact that so many are taken in by this type of prosperity gospel but it doesn't surprise me, after all the Apostle Paul warned us about this in his letter to the Ephesians:

Eph 4:14 "so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes."

I think we will always have multitudes that seek a false gospel rather than seeking the truth.

Amen!! People today are as blind as bats. They should be reading their Bibles and learning from great bible teachers like John MacArthur and Ray Comfort.

Maybe not, but like someone else we both know that is also popular he is the author of confusion. Joel sometimes will affirm correct doctrine, yet other times deny it. He needs to be consistent! Also his statements about Mormons was both true and false. He said that they are not orthodox christians, and yet said they love Jesus. What Jesus? Osteen is blind and ignorant, or a wolf in sheeps clothing.

    HIs standing with God....

...is not for me to say! I believe that all the speculation in this world over whether a person or for that, a denomination, is or isn't in God's heart of written in the Lamb's Book of Life is way beyond my paygrade, calling and the mission I've been sent here to do!

I say let God worry about the Osteen, Hinn's, Warren's, etc., of this world! Let's be concerned with our own walk, and like when the tribulation comes, everything else will pan out in the end!
