Fox News: Host Amy Robach diagnosed with breast cancer after 'Good Morning America' on-air mammogram​

ABC News correspondent Amy Robach says she has breast cancer, a month after she was given a mammogram on the air for a "Good Morning America" story.

"Honestly, I was a little reluctant at first," Robach admitted on "GMA" Monday morning. "I'm 40, I'm the age and I've been putting it off."

Robach got the screening as part of the show's October Pink initiative, aimed at encouraging viewers to get checked, according to People.

Good advice. I drive a mobile mammography coach for a major regional hospital. It takes 15 minutes and I couldn't begin to tell you the stories I heard from women who had their screening on the coach. Most states have programs for low/no cost mammos. We do a lot of corporate events where the company lets their employees come out on company time.

I started getting them at 40 years old but had been getting ultrasounds for 2 years before that. When my youngest child was 4 months old (and I was 38), I had a serious case of mastitis that went septic. It was NOT good. Once that was cleared up (it's amazing what the right antibiotic will do over the wrong one - lesson learned - don't go to a GP for something he doesn't often see), I had to have ultrasounds because apparently my long term effect was a damaged lymph node. It always causes me to have to return from the mammo if they haven't read it by the time I leave and get an ultrasound. The last few times, my doc just ordered both. But all is good so far and I'm due for my next on in January. At least I've been dropped to once a year rather than every 4 months!
