I would like to see the test myself to see what the question actually asks. You see, because I disagree with the whole premise of this result:

Fewer than half (48 percent) knew that human beings evolved from earlier species of animals.

"Knew"?? I KNOW that we did not evolve from earlier species of animals. So we see that there is an issue with at least one question here. It is assuming a fact that is not provable.

An atheist poll. Who is surprised ? Designed to make believers into simpletons.

This isn't an atheist poll folks. It is run by the National Science Foundation which is government institution. The poll measures general science knowledge.

Granted some of the "answers" would be challenged around here. The results are pretty intriguing.

For instance:
Question about whether the universe began with a big explosion, only 39% of people agreed with that statement (which they say is true.)
Question: Human beings, as we know them today, developed from earlier species of animals. And 48% of people agreed with this.

Now, this is scientific poll run by scientists. They are taking their conclusions and seeing how the public understands them. The poll had a pretty good sample. I'm honestly surprised 52% of Americans reject the humanistic view of evolution, kind of gives me hope.
