AS I write this [you are the first to hear this], the ground under the larger portion of LA, Riverside and San Diego is being hit be massive swarms of earthquakes.

I haven't, personally felt any quake as large as this since 1971. So keep an eye on the news, as we are shaking pretty good, and they are still hitting is different parts of the area!

Within the hour we've had 8 quakes, from 2.1 to 5.6...

My daughter, son-in-law and grand sons live in Menifee. She texted me that there had been a cluster of them. The largest was 5.1, with a cluster of 9 more small ones (all around 2.5) centered around La Brea then one in east San Diego County and one on the south shore of the Salton Sea in Imperial County.

That part of the fault system is long over due. Perhaps many small ones will prevent a really big one. Relieve the pressure on the plate. :)

We live close to them...

We live within a stone's throw of them, and it was a lot of shaking. This one was weird, in that we felt a dizziness seconds before the real rolling hit. Strange in that we never had that sensation before.

As for your theory, we'd all like to believe that, but only God knows for sure. The experts tell you that ittle ones are relieving pressure, but....they change their story every time we have a quake. Actually we've had a lot of shaking the past few weeks, but this was a huge swarm. There have been an abnormal number nuber of aftershocks sense the 5.3 at 9:09. The experts say this is highly unusual. Well, maybe all of us need these things to keep us on our feet!

Here is what my daughter had to say about it (and she and her husband were right in the middle of the Northridge quake in 1994).
Whew! That earthquake was quite rumbly and lasted for awhile!! Drives me batty when the news/seismologists start in on the 'well ya know...we're OVERDUE for a big quake!" REALLY??? There's a schedule for these things?!!?? I'd like a copy of that, please!!

As I mentioned in another post, I live in southern California and haven't felt anything in relation to a quake.
