So let me get this straight. Michelle is in China, waving a blank red flag that has nothing to do with the flag of china but just happens to be the same color?

What idiot believes such a thing.

It was part of a dance with red streamers tied to sticks. Whoever posted the "communist flag" article that EWF grabbed should be ashamed.

I never said she was waving any flag. I AM saying I refuse to stick up for her, as she was the one who banned any American coverage of her trip.

Correct. I didn't mean to imply you were saying she was waving a flag. Sorry for the inference.

Like I said, yellow journalism. Truth is never a consideration by Obama haters.

Wonder if those who accepted the thread and posted negative comments will apologize. [Not holding my breath.]

There are groups in ever Chinese city that are dancing using fans and small streamers or clothes. They gather in the early morning in city parks and practice.

Was not allowing the press a Chinese directive? Or did the Obama admin make that policy?

Looks like the Chinese are controlling access combined with the fact that the Obama administration did not "invite" any US journalists to accompany them on the first lady's plane, and she's not giving any interviews.

Washington Post
The situation is further complicated by the difficult media environment in China, where the communist government controls much of the media and negotiations between officials from the first lady’s office and the Chinese agency that oversees media access have been visibly contentious. Chinese press officials have shoved U.S. reporters around physically at some venues, prompting objections from Obama’s staff.

Out of four overseas trips without her husband, the first lady has traveled with a press pool once — in Africa in 2011. East Wing officials say the plane she uses on solo trips is much smaller than the president’s Air Force One, making it difficult to accommodate reporters.

Still, there are reporters there and they are writing about the trip, esp. the Huffington Post.

I call "horse hockey." Here's the plane they got off of in Beijing.

Additionally The New York Daily News has other photos accompanying their story of her trip, and it looks to me like any "shortage" of space for the media is a bald-faced lie. That plane isn't a 747, but it's a big aircraft nonetheless.

If my spouse was president and I took a trip I would not want a bunch of reporters riding with me. I like privacy and being with a bunch of folk who are only interested in a story would not be fun. With friends, yes ... with reporters, no!

Too bad. You'd be a public figure, you don't have a choice. Unless, of course, you think you're playing queen to your spouse's self-appointed role as king.

I know of now law saying the president or his/her family has to have a gang of reporters with them. After all, in secret trips, and they have been numerous though the years no reporters were along and often reporters knew nothing of the trip until later. FDR's trip to Casablanca is an example and that trip took weeks.

Oh, by the way, your biased thinking shows in your post. If my spouse was the president I would be the first gentleman not the first lady.

True. There is also a long, long history of tradition granting limited access, particularly when the president or his family travels.

PR trip, no "national security" issues with the first feminist taking her kids and mom for a taxpayer-paid vacation. This wasn't Truman at Yalta, this is Shelley spending her husband's constituent's money for no good reason, and then she winds up celebrating communism on the taxpayer dime.
FDR's trip to Casablanca is an example and that trip took weeks.
FDR was seeing his mistress. The press knew he was seeing his mistress. They chose not to go. Things were different back then.

No bias. It was intended as a thinly veiled insult. Shouldn't have to explain something as obvious as that.

Except for the fact that she is the First Lady, with staff, and has many things going on that affect the country, yet she is unelected and is thus not accountable to the people she affects.

As the father of an 18 year old high school senior one simple plan that is all hers that I can attest too is school lunches and how pathetic they are now. A lot of kids can't stop by Chick-Fil-A like mine can and take lunch with them. A lot of kids go home hungry because of Michelle Obama.

If we are talking their kids I agree, but she is fair game and this is nonsense.

So if I understand you correctly, you are saying that no political organization should be flag waving.....Is that correct?

huh ? I musta been missing a lot of sleep lately....no brother, that is not what I am saying.
In so many words, I said I'd sympathize more with two vets who served this country but refuse to stand up at the Pledge because they discern the restoration of the Pledge during their meetings as more politically, than patriotically, motivated and compared to them Michelle Obama is a commie, true commie flag or not.
