Could you imagine the uproar in the mainstream media that we would see if a member of a politically favored class of people was crucified for who or what they are? There would be front page headlines for weeks. But because members of a politically favored class (Muslims) are doing it to members of a non-politically favored class (Christians), it is not newsworthy at all according to the media. In many instances, Christians are being crucified by jihadists that are actually being assisted and funded by the governments of the United States and Saudi Arabia. Yes, our tax dollars are being used to help arm and supply radical jihadists that are beheading and crucifying Christians. And yet none of the big media organizations considers this to be news.

How sick and twisted do you have to be to crucify a little child for being a Christian? Of course you never heard about this from the mainstream media, but that is exactly what happened in Syria recently…

Well, the antichrist owns/dominates/operates the media. For real.

The media is a circus. Last night the local news was 30 minutes of heat, fountains, parks, bug spray, and popsicle. Nothing more important in the world than a first warm day of the season! Not one word about anything unrelated to the warm day.

Then I suppose the pertinent question is 'Where is the public outcry in America'?

Why did I have to post this thread, shouldn't our pastors be the ones informing us about this?

IMHO, those suffering are Eastern Orthodox, thus they are not in the same category as the Baptists and other Gospel preaching Evangelicals persecuted under the Communist and other authoritarian regimes. Let's face it, in EO countries (Greece, Russia, ect.), we non-EOs would be feeling the sharp end.

I hope I'm misunderstanding what you are saying.

It sounds like . . . "So what? The people being crucified over there aren't like us."

My position is being RCC or EO doesn't automatically make a person some one whose name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life. Just because Muslims and other heathens and pagans do, isn't my problem.
The short answer is yes, they aren't like us they aren't saved.

Poncho, I'm taking the classic Baptist position. Adherents of the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches are not automatically assumed to be regenerate. Neither my church nor I are unique in considering the RCC or EOC fields for evangelism.
That just puts what's happening in Syria and other places in the same category as the Hindu v. Muslim/Sikh violence in India\Pakistan or the Hindu v. Buddhist violence in Sri Lanka or a host of other places.

I'm still confused. I'm pretty sure I understand the classic Baptist position on the RC and EO churches having been raised up in a Baptist church what I'm not understanding is how that position translates into what I can only assume to be a lack of empathy towards others who do not share our faith.

You see I always thought all life was precious. I wasn't aware that my salvation made me special or gave me the right to look at others who may not be saved as less than me and not deserving of my empathy when they are suffering.

I'm also confused as to why those who hold to this classic Baptist position are usually among the first to call for war to liberate the oppressed if indeed the violence between the un saved is something we needn't concern ourselves with.

    Who isn't my neighbor?

ISIS must be stopped. Period. I heard a report that we were fighting alongside them in Iraq. Wonderful. What a mess over there. EO ppl claim to follow Christ. To be cavalier about the fact that they are being crucified by ISIS/Muslims (who are the servants of Satan) is horrific.

It's worse than that even. We or more specifically Washington and it's "allies" Saudi Arbia and Turkey are funding and arming these head choppers and crucifiers. In light of all that it's pretty apparent why the mass corporate media is looking the other way.

But there's even more to the story than just the "non story" here. The government and corporate media isn't content with just withholding information from us. They want to control every platform in which we can become informed.
