In other words, we've released terrorists in order to get Sgt. Bergdahl home. I don't object. I've been praying for years that this day would come. But terrorists? Free?

That's a high price to pay.

Apparently this administration does negotiate with terrorists.

It's interesting to note that BOTH sides agree ONE US Army Sgt. is worth FIVE Gitmo detainees. :)

I agree with the GOP Congressmen here but I'm also glad this guy is now free. I guess we need to look upon this a grace.

I've a question for these fools in the administration: Can you explain to me how, after five years of living in captivity, his life was in any more danger now that it was the day they captured him?

    Talk about a political minefield.

The Obama administration broke the law. But in this case, the breaking of the law brought an American serviceman home after 5 years.

If they impeach him, the political backlash will be unbelievable.

If they don't do something, then they encourage the administration to continue ignoring the law whenever it's "expedient."

Frankly, the law was poorly written, and I agree with Obama's signature statement.

But how hard was it to pick up the phone and tell Congress, "hey, we've got this situation, and we just wanted to let you know we're acting on it"?

The executive office of this country CAN'T be allowed to ignore the law. CAN'T. The alternative is a dictatorship where the dictator chooses what laws apply to him/her, and which laws apply to the constituents. Or a country where anarchy reigns because the constituents follow the example of their leader.

Congress MUST slap the administration with some punitive action, and then revise the law to ensure situations of this sort are provided for.

So many seem to forget or just do not care that this guy was a deserter who got captured by the enemy. Trading 5 top enemy combatants for him should have never been considered not to mention the President broke the law again while the wimpy republicans just whine like a wounded dog with no teeth. Hopefully he is now prosecuted and given a dishonorable discharge losing all pay and benifits.

With him under interrogation, hopefully we can get at the truth. I've been suspicious of his "disappearance" from the beginning, and it appears his father is a Taliban sympathizer and has actively worked toward the unconditional release of all Gitmo prisoners -- he's even bragged about it on Twitter.

Despite all that, Bergdahl needed to come home -- if for no other reason than to stand for potential court-martial. He probably is a traitor. With a father like his, it's no reason he's at the very least confused.

    terrorists released

How long do you think it will take for one of the five demons released yesterday to return to the Taliban and kill an American or Christian in the world somewhere. Don't get me wrong, I cheer the release of our soldier, but it was at a great cost. My ultimate wish is that Obama would go back to Chicago early to do what he does best, and that surely isn't foreign relations. He makes a better Al Sharpton than a Ronald Regan.

These Taliban freaks will cut off their own mothers' heads gleefully for any imagined crime, and here's an American enemy combatant they hold "captive" for five years coming home with his head still on ?
Doesn't take much imagination to think there's something a little off here, really.

Far too heavy. Especially for a deserter.

The deserter point has yet to be proved by a court martial - which I think should be the next step. I am more concerned about the message that has been sent - that the West negotiates and does deals with terrorists.

same old, same old, as far as the bummer in the White House is concerned. Get somebody to stand in the line of fire for me, so I can do what I want, and no one's the wiser.
in this case - some dummy from Qatar.
and throw in some sensationals here at home - the VA guy and my chief liar to the press.
