1986 Immigration and Amnesty Act Should have curbed future problems, but didn't!

Let me remind all of you what the Simpson-Mazzoli Act was supposed to do regarding the strengthening of our border laws!

What did the law REQUIRE, and why was it not enforced?

1) Required employers to attest to their employees' immigration status;
2) Made it illegal to knowingly hire or recruit illegal immigrants;
3) Legalized certain seasonal agricultural illegal immigrants, and;
4) Legalized illegal immigrants who entered the United States before January 1, 1982 and had resided there continuously with the penalty of a fine, back taxes due, and admission of guilt; candidates were required to prove that they were not guilty of crimes, that they were in the country before January 1, 1982, and that they possessed minimal knowledge about U.S. history, government, and the English language.
5) About three million illegal immigrants were granted legal status through this act.

If the Federal government had simply enforced 1,2 and 3, I do not believe we'd be where we are today!

As a long-time employee of the State of California Department of Social Service/Community Care Licensing, I can tell you that as a mid-level manager, in or around 1994, my superiors gave mid-level managers of licensing units the mandate to stop requiring green cards, proof of vaccinations, and the legality of an immigrant's status in the State of California, in order to allow illegal immigrants to be licensed as children day care home providers.

This was a mandate that went strictly against both State and federal laws, but it was done, and we had nothing we could do, if we desired to remain employed!

The flood of new immigrants into America without proper and legal permission didn't just start a few years back; it had its birth in California at least, in the mid 1990s.

This is so sad, and it demonstrated to me what I thought would eventually happen, once the gates were opened; America found a loophole to allow more to come here without INS protocol being adhered to!

Maybe there are some of you who have similar stories of how the feds lack of enforcing this law, resulted in the present problems!

The government made it impossible to enforce #1 when they refused to provide employers a way to check immigration status.

IOW Even if an employer knows they are illegal, they can't refuse to hire them.

So the law was undermined in more than one way and never stood a chance of curing the problem.

First employers were handicapped in verifying Status and then outlawed from doing anything about it even when they could.

Yet we constantly hear employers blamed for the whole problem. When , in fact, it has been the government at fault all the time.

It has long been the policy of the Democratic Party to thwart efforts to enforce immigration laws, thus building a bigger party voter base among illegals who manage to fly under the radar long enough for some amnesty program or another to be enacted that makes them citizens.

Clinton essentially order the inaction RD2 experienced in California social services, and Obama is just being more blantat about it. We have allowed ourselves to be destroyed from within by the creeping ooze of political agendas and the expediency of inaction benefiting one party.

None of us should be surprised that we now wake up to a country that is no longer ours.
