Brilliant move. Train them to be the best in warfare, then tick them off against their country while they're in combat zones. And announce ahead of time that it's happening so they're ALL wondering if they're next.

It is what it is. I sincerely doubt the Army was checking the skin color on the evals.

Affirmative action doesn't play well in replacing performance evals.

Critics should be careful where they cast a stone?

The next time you write a title line, please use your spell check! It is nearly as appalling as my use of "celebrate" versus "observes anniversary of Hiroshima!"

We all live in glass house's brother, and none of us are perfect! Just thought I'd point that out to you! mR.r is a negative pew sitter that makes his living on this board attacking those whom he deems unlikable. He is nothing more than a cyber bully who comes to this board professing, "Thus sayeth the Lord!" Well, I know the voice of God as well as others, and when mR.r speaks, it is not the voice I am accustomed to hearing!

Well, Jesus wasn't a bully, so, I wonder WWJD? As for me, ever since SN was banned, mR.r has needed a whipping boy, and he has landed in my backyard. Well, things that land in your backyard ends up in a back and placed at the curb on Monday mornings!

BTW - The difference between SN and myself is, I do not respect this him. I do not sit and hold my breath waiting to hear from him. His kind will be dealt with in heavenly places, and I need not bother putting energy into what he says or doesn't say regarding what I say or didn't say and whether it was appropriate or not! I only have to please one person, and since His Son died for me, I believe that the pleasing portion of my life has been taken care of. I am under the blood of Jesus, not the watchful, critical eye of mR.r!

    I have to wonder ....

..... why are we releasing seasoned, educated officers? The army just let a ton of Captains go, and it seems strange that command and control are being decimated! Could it be that without officers, orders from the WH will not be questioned?

    That's a separate issue entirely.

The OP is about the writer playing the race card.

I see the whining hasn't stopped around here! :sleeping_2:

Downsizing our military? I'm all for it. We have no need for a military of 500,000 soldiers.

More like Ostrich, meet fence. I'll just keep my eye on my border and not worry about the rest of the world, thank you.

No foreign wars ... do not need as large a military.

But to the OP. There is no way to answer the question. We do not know what criteria was used in the selection process. We do not know the makeup of the selection board.

Is it possible the process was racist ... both yes and no .... we just do not know.

Will this anger many. Yes. And it would anger many regardless of how the makeup of the cuts played out.

    Yes we do.

You might try reading your source for a change.

It is true that the Promotion board does see the official military photo of the individual.

Here is a copy of the OER (Officers Evaluation Report) DA Form 67-9
Even just one "NO" could end a Majors career.
The last box asks recommendation for future assignments. If Commander is not listed, he can probably kiss that promotion good bye. In addition, the way the narrative is worded can make a big difference.
In addition, you are "expected" to attend certain off duty activities.
You might have a 97% score, on your OER, but that just might be too low for promotion.

I found an interesting article - it is more about earning (or being given) medal. Of course if the other guy has one more medal than you - well that could make the difference.

That still won't change the eval. It is what it is.

A reporter making a racial charge should have a lot more to go on. This is just more race baiting. It's been popular lately.

A strong and large military is needed to help keep the peace.

Remember we have the Dept of DEFENSE not the Dept of WAR.

I guess the ostrich is just willing to ignore the expansion of China and the war mongering of Russia not to mention the Middle Eastern threat. Right now it may be over there but if we don't maintain a superior military strength they will be threatening our very soil and by then it may be too late to stop it.

That is what the European nations believed before World War I. Didn't work out well then, did it?

Salty, I am reading a very interesting book, Europe's Last Summer: Who Started the Great War of 1914. If you have any interest in that era I would recommend this book. Your public library probably has a copy.
