Obama is getting ready to attack Syria.

    The Washington Post
Islamic State cannot be defeated without addressing “both sides of what is essentially at this point a nonexistent border” between Iraq and Syria, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said Thursday.

The United States and its allies in the Middle East and beyond need to join together to defeat the terrorist group “over time,” Gen. Martin Dempsey said. Asked whether the United States would extend its current campaign of airstrikes in Iraq into Syria, Dempsey said airstrikes were “only one small part” of what is necessary to defeat the group.

Asked whether airstrikes against the group in Syria was under consideration, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said that “we continue to explore all options…and how best we can assist partners in that area, the Middle East, particularly in Iraq.”

“We will continue to stay focused…on what we’re doing now and exploring all options as we go forward,” Hagel said.

I'd prefer he asked congress for a declaration of war.

Yes, but you know what the response will be? ISIS is not a country. Syria is not supporting ISIS. There are no real borders between Iraq and Syria. Blah, blah, blah.

    from Wiki….

"In 1802, in response to Jefferson's request for authority to deal with the pirates, Congress passed "An act for the Protection of Commerce and seamen of the United States against the Tripolitan cruisers", authorizing the President to "…employ such of the armed vessels of the United States as may be judged requisite… for protecting effectually the commerce and seamen thereof on the Atlantic ocean, the Mediterranean and adjoining seas."[28] "The statute authorized American ships to seize vessels belonging to the Bey of Tripoli, with the captured property distributed to those who brought the vessels into port."[24]

How can Obama possibly sell the idea that American lives are in danger in Syria?

ISIS has stated they are going to go after Americans. Whether you believe them or not is your decision.

How many Americans are in Syria? Never mind, it doesn't matter. Our policy has been to implore people to leave troubled areas of the world. Since when is it our policy to go into other countries and kill people that might kill Americans?

I'd prefer Dubya and the neocons had left Saddam in place. None of this crap would be happening were it not for our 'intervention'.

    Trying to keep this straight.

You're ok with killing people who say they are going after Americans.

You're against the death penalty for people who have actually killed Americans.

LOL. Good point! Maybe Crabby is against the death penalty if an American kills an American on American soil?

BTW, I'm not advocating any action at all, against anyone. I'm, saying if American lives/interests are being threatened then let's have a declaration of war, before anything else happens.

Between you and me, I wouldn't bring it up if C.T.Boy didn't use the term "bloodthirsty" to describe those who disagree with him on state death penalty statutes. Now here he is wanting people dead merely for what they say.

    The hypocrisy is stunning.

Not really. The same comes form the "other side" just as well. The only difference is one side waves the flag and the other waves starving children and even those lines are beginning to blur.
