Judicial Watch: Feds’ Bulletin Describes Threat of Imminent Terrorist Attack on Southern Border

For those of us who’ve been raising alarms about both the jihadist threat and the national-security vulnerability created by the Obama administration’s non-enforcement of the immigration laws, this is not a surprise — particularly less than two weeks before September 11. But it is nonetheless jarring to read. Judicial Watch has just put out this statement:

Islamic terrorist groups are operating in the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez and planning to attack the United States with car bombs or other vehicle born improvised explosive devices (VBIED). High-level federal law enforcement, intelligence and other sources have confirmed to Judicial Watch that a warning bulletin for an imminent terrorist attack on the border has been issued. Agents across a number of Homeland Security, Justice and Defense agencies have all been placed on alert and instructed to aggressively work all possible leads and sources concerning this imminent terrorist threat.

You do realize that there is always some type of terrorist threat and that our guys are always working to mitigate the threats, right?

What I'm saying is that your just listening to hype. Today isn't any different that yesterday or 3 years ago or 8 years ago.

Man they have a lot of "credible" unidentified "high ranking official sources" in that article. I agree with Matt. This sounds like another classic hype job.

THE United States has been narrowly saved from lethal terrorist plots in recent years — or so it has seemed. A would-be suicide bomber was intercepted on his way to the Capitol; a scheme to bomb synagogues and shoot Stinger missiles at military aircraft was developed by men in Newburgh, N.Y.; and a fanciful idea to fly explosive-laden model planes into the Pentagon and the Capitol was hatched in Massachusetts.

But all these dramas were facilitated by the F.B.I., whose undercover agents and informers posed as terrorists offering a dummy missile, fake C-4 explosives, a disarmed suicide vest and rudimentary training. Suspects naïvely played their parts until they were arrested.

Besides Islamic terrorists are the least of the government's worries according to it's own National Threat Assessments for Domestic Extremism.

Why should he have to do something you refuse to do?

 The best way to protect ourselves is to surrender all our liberties and privacy!

This isn't in reply to your post pinoybaptist.

It's just a reminder that this has been the government's solution to keeping us "safe" since 9/11.

    Of course.

How many of them are labeled "imminent"?

How many of them are confirmed by so many unidentified high level official sources?

    All of them. Always.

I thought ISIS was the JV. Makes the administration look kind of silly now putting out an "imminent" threat concerning them.

But you didn't answer my question.

How many of the warnings have been labeled "imminent"?

You , of all people , would keep track of that sort of thing. So what's the answer?

    What did you expect?

ISIL is the "JV". The administration is already invested in that remark.

Don't know. Haven't been keeping track. Never felt the need.

It's pretty evident to me that the government and media have been working in tandem to keep us fearful since 9/11 and when the fear starts to wear off they ramp up the hype. It's the season.

I'm not going to run for the basement every time someone in the media claims a bunch of unidentified high ranking officials who choose to remain anonymous tell us we're about to attacked.

If they were really that sure of a terrorist threat from across the border or anywhere else they wouldn't be afraid to sign their own name to it and they would have secured the border ten minutes after the first plane hit the WTC.

And they would concentrate on Islamic terrorism in their terrorism assessment reports instead of focusing all their efforts on pro lifers, Christians, constitutionalists, libertarians, the tea party, and returning veterans.

That's who they keep they're focus on so that must be who they feel is the real threat.

Don't you trust the government to keep you safe?

Nobody's "running for the basement". We have all been worn down by boredom with endless terrorist threats.

A lot of people will have to die to make us pay attention again. For a while.

Downtown Cd. Juarez 50 years ago was a very peaceful place. You could not wander off into the unpaved streets and the back sections of town but the tourist area and the main streets were quite save all night long. Of course, in those days, Cd. Juarez was only 300,000 people.

It is not hype .... it is a strong possiblity! Probably the reason the POTUS refused to go to a border town, SS knew of the potential dangers, and didn't want to provoke an attack or put Obama in danger!

It is no longer "if" it is when!

Well, to all you experts on border issues, let me fill you in with a few facts. I live on that border between Texas and Mexico (Tamaulipas). I see every evening on the national news something about the "crisis" in Brownsville, or McAllen. I live between those two cities in the Rio Grande Valley. My home is about 2 miles north of the river/border.

The funny thing is I never see any of that on the local news. My wife and I cross the border on a regular basis for shopping, dental care, and just for a quiet lunch at one of the fine restaurants in Nuevo Progreso.

Most of what you are hearing is political hype. Down here it is business as usual. No huge crowds coming across the border. No Islamic invasion. Most of those coming across the border are unaccompanied kids, brought north by their parents and sent across the border in hopes of a better life. As soon as they get on this side of the border they surrender to the Border Patrol and are moved to a health/holding facility for examination, then sent on to one of the shelters out of state.

I'm not wild about not just deporting all of them, but a little human compassion is not always a bad thing. Personally I think the little kids should be separated from those in their late teens and early twenties, and the little kids be cared for in foster homes but the older ones turned around and sent back across the border.

Short of that, the only thing we can do is close the border completely. Nobody going across in either direction. When Mexico starts to suffer economically due to the loss of tourist revenue, especially the border towns, maybe their national leadership will wake up.

Currently Mexico brings in almost $20 billion dollars per year in tourist revenue. Add to that the estimated $50 billion dollars per year generated by the drug cartels, and you have a significant portion of the Mexican economy.

The Mexican government being in favor of more open borders has nothing to do with illegal immigration. They want that cash, including drug money, to keep flowing into Mexico, and in order to do that the drugs have to keep flowing north through the more open borders.

You could be right, but do you really expect them to announce their presence? Maybe come across the bridge with black al qaeda flag flying?

BTW How close are you to Juarez? More than 600 miles away?

There are plenty of ranchers that would completely contradict most of this.
