In an incident off the coast of Alaska, US and Canadian fighter jets intercepted and chased off a Ruskie jet. This is the second incident with Russian jets coming two close to allies and or American interests.

What do you think is behind their aggressive behavior? In my heart of hearts, I think they are doing this because they see Obama as weak and indecisive. Even so, that is merely my view; and I'd love tyo hear what you think is driving them to take such risks? These kind of aggressive incidents have not been seen since the cold war [I think?]!

I really enjoyed the movie way back when .... gee it was a long time ago, hmmmmm, 1966.

Bet we test their response time and efforts also.

Aggression has been going on since Satan and his angels were cast out of heaven. He is the god of this world. He uses man to accomplish his war against God. The real battle is for the souls of men.

Satan was defeated at Calvary. He knows his time is short. He is busy making a way for The Antichrist.

Re: USA and Russia, we are probably in need of another arms race in space. We probably should spend the red ink on road and bridge repair.

    The Russians are broke too.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Agreed. We both need to put down the sabres, and get welfare folks working on repairing our aged infrastructure. I'd also think we'd do well at cranking up a national jobs training program, like CETA.

No more CETA, please. CETA cranked out certified, often unqualified people to the labor force--a federal diploma mill. They moved upward according to Peter Principle and Murphy's Law of incompetence plus one or two more levels for affirmative action.

Government should not be in the schooling business.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

I don't where you live and what your experience with ceta was, but for three years I managed a ceta program for a very large county and it was not a crank out cert mill. We trained folks for jobs, got them hired and back to work. We also used funds to get people in the door with employers by paying the wage for six months, and 80% of those interns ended up staying with that employer and being good additions to those companies.

I'll admit we had some vendors that used ceta to pad their wallets, but, that was highly unusual because we had the county schools and community colleges monitor the grants and vendors, and we had success in training and placing the unemployed, underemployed and untrained people in good paying jobs.

Over the years I have run into past trainees that have gone on to successful careers. These programs were only as good as the agencies that over seen them. In my case, I was a hawk, and held vendors under the microscope.

We need to put people to work, and if a works training program is not a viable source, what would you suggest to get the entitled welfare folks sitting around collecting checks for doing nothing productive? It is easy to say "no" to ceta, but do you have a better idea? If so please tell me.

My experience background spans 45 years in quality control/training in the military-industrial complex, in peace and war. My CETA experience is from aerospace. I worked with people who were advanced past people who were much more qualified. Merit really had nothing to do with promotion.

I have seen the academic standards drop to allow for serious gaps in basic reading, writing and arithmetic--in military and civilian environments. Many high school graduates have a serious lack of basics training which requires remedial training to handle college level.

Not to worry: get some student loans. Finish the course. Get an advanced degree in whatever high paying career ladder. Oops, sorry there are not many jobs in that area. What kind of terms would you like to pay off your student loan? Can't find a job? You can still make small payments for the rest of your life.

Something is seriously skewed in our land of opportunity.

There are still a few companies which have not gone overseas which have internal training for those with the desire and aptitude.

But you must pass a drug screening to be considered.

Still good advice: if you want to work, find the place you want and do not leave them alone until they hire you--it might be janitor, but it a place to start.

We are drowning in red ink and acid rain. Maybe someone could figure out how to make red ink out of acid rain.

WPA for a welfare check might work in some cases. However, many welfare recipients have an aversion to physical labor.

There is only one real remedy: Jesus.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Has happened for decades. Russia and the US continually test each other's airspace. Nothing new to see.

Two great points ... having worked in state government for nearly 20 years, I watched people, less qualified, promoted over people with degrees. It happened a lot in my department. We were hired to issue, inspect and conduct complaints on licensed family day care in private residences.

There were times I'd need to expand my two county units, and went through the hiring process. A lot of folks from other state jobs and departments would apply and be interviewed, along with college grads working in the private sector. And while the degrees and job experience impressed me a lot, there were times I hired from within our immediate office, because a gal or guy who worked for years as a file clerk or office clerk knew the ins-and-outs of the job. They may not have had a degree, but they knew the job, and turned out to be great licensing analysts.

As for the lowering of academic standards, how right on your are. Our colleges are taking just about anybody that is warm and can come up with the money through loans or whatever other means!

Higher education is more concerned about padding the numbers, and that means adding to the rolls. A large student body means more grants, etc., but while doing this, they often scrapethe bottom of the barrel, academically, and in order accommodate these inferior students; they lower the requirements for admission, and even in grading those students once they get to class!

There are always going to be the core classes, that are often difficult. But then there are courses like "Executive Basket Weaving" or "Community Organizing for the Beginner!"

And some of the majors today are ridiculous too, leaving the college grad with a major in something that is irrelevant and not going to open career doors in most places of employment. Probably the reason we have so many university grads working at WalMart and McDonald's!

I agree with your observations, brother. Advanced academia in not what it once was! Have you ever watched Jay Leno and his Jaywalking series? How many people did he interview who said they were a university grad and a teacher or something else of importance and couldn't answer basic questions like: Who was Besty Ross? Who did we fight for independence from England?

Of course, the truth is, most kids coming out of high schoo can't answer these same questions!

I think, IMHO, our society wants anyone who thinks they can get a degree to have the chance. After all, that is what political correctness is all about. EVERYONE wins ... if they just get in the game!
