So many fruitless debates on CAL vs. Armin, Music, Bible Translations, which may be helpful sometimes but most of the time here its a waste of time. People here need to stop wasting time and start sending letters to apostate churches, start witnessing, studying their Bible more, learning more about Jesus and getting to know him better, working on their sanctification, and being in prayer more. None of us have arrived (including me) but perhaps I need to spend less time here and more time in fruitful activities that can make a difference. The number of people that have mocked evangelism, mocked the gospel like one poster that replied to something I said this morning with a snarky comment that surely sending a tract or two would make a difference. Let me tell that poster and others about the Great Awakening and the power of the scripture to change lives. People need to REPENT and the gospel needs to be proclaimed... I need a break from this board and the snarky critics.

I know exactly how you feel my brother. I did it (took a rest from this forum) and continue to do so and it is a worthwhile exercise. Stay away for 6 months, come back for a brief look-see and take note that the same squabbles from the same posters are still going on. It's like you never left!

    A pitty really.

Not that long but one thread has really disturbed me that I started. The level of mocking of the gospel there is terrible. Enough! Time for a rest.

I take breaks from this, and several other boards, often. Does a soul lots of good.

    Besides, this all is meaningless.

Funny, I have been away for a while now and just logged on tonight for the first time in several weeks. Now I see your post....lol

It has done me good to be away and I probably will stay away for a while longer. I just pop in every once-in-a-while to see what is happening and yes it is all the same stuff over and over. I have better things to do with my life. I may lurk and I may post but I think I will stay away for the most part. Good luck Evangelist

Yep, I take breaks from this forum as well, for the very same reasons. It is not healthy to stay on this forum day in and day out.

I know of no instance when the Gospel was mocked. Your methods questioned, however, yes.

Good luck with your hiatus, and we will see you in a few days. ;)

Will this be like your ban on buying books in which you find ways to circumvent your self imposed rules as often as possible?

I find it hard to believe that many on this board who intentionally work overtime and often in concert to humiliate others; attack a brothers credibility; call them insulting names; demean and discredit another brothers' words, love and service for the same Lord ... have the audacity to think they will live in the same eternity as those they do their BEST to hurt or drive off this board.

I may not always agree with Zaac, but he is spot on when he refers to many on the board as "the good ol' boys" club. Some of the mean spirited comments to you, right or wrong, based on single-minded slants and holier-than-thou attitudes will either find it hard adjusting to the idea of living next door to the likes of people like you and I, or they may be surprised with what happens at the time of their individual judgment's.

The nasty words, intended to HURT you, a brother in Jesus, will not go unnoticed when the White Throne Judgment begins.

There needs to be a lot of repentance on behalf of the snarky brothers, or, the witness of this board will continue to be severely tainted.
    Huu
If someone dislikes, and decides to do their best to attack you every time they see a post from you, then they need to take leave and not read or comment on your posts, or face some heavy judgment for non-Christ like words to a sincere brother.

It is a shame you are being forced to exit this board for being you? I believe these folks should ignore you, or exit because their witness is not WJWD.

    Shalom my brother!

And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.
    Acts 26:24

    Forum translation and application?

And as the poster provided his Opinions, some questioned with retorts..., Poster, thou art beside thyself: much opinion doth make thee mad.

RD2 - it seems you're making your comments based on Evangelist's hurt feelings. I wonder; how many of his threads have you actually participated in?

I look at JonC, who might be considered one of those who has "decided to do their best to attack (Evangelist) every time they see a post from him." I find it interesting the evolution of how JonC came to this point; because in his initial posts to and exchanges with Evangelist, Evangelist called him a friend and would only converse with him. After the space of a few months, JonC's responses to Evangelist are almost completely opposite of what they once were; and Evangelist now refers to him as one of the "rabbits."

Why do you suppose that is?

I myself have gone through periods where I got exasperated with Evangelist, and let my posts speak the truth about the way he acted. Then I would go back and try again in a more positive, constructive manner; only to find myself getting exasperated again.

He recently started a thread about Mark 4; I disagreed with his initial premise, but defended his position against a misunderstanding by another poster...and I got called out by him in another thread for being "problematic."

What do you do with someone who constantly and consistently points to books instead of The Book? What do you do with someone who calls others "rabbits" because they disagree with him, while making sure he identifies that someone somewhere at some time agrees with him?

You're pretty quick to read his "oh woe is me" comments here, and offer sympathy to him; where were you in all his other threads where he was offended because people disagreed with him?

I would suggest buy a bag and a pair of MMA training gloves, and if you have space, hang it, use it every now and then.
I got one outside right now.
I'm 68 years but can still pack a whammo if some guy smashes his face into my fist.
    have a good rest.

Oh please! Enough with your self-righteous, whoa is me, my feelings are hurt stuff. If you say silly and nonsensical things, the people of this board are going to call you out on it. If you're not thick skinned enough to take it, perhaps leaving is not the worst idea you've ever had.

    To no one in particular:

Some here might consider the possibility, however remote, that it is possible to be Biblically correct and yet extremely obnoxious at the same time.

Lets see here, if I pull up the section "General Baptist Discussions" the first page has 20 thread titles, of which you (the OP) started four, which is a tie with your comrade dude who also has four threads started. Over on the tab "Baptist Theology and Bible Study" there are also 20 thread titles, of which you started six.

Many of these threads have to do with the same subject(s), and most people probably after reading the initial post come away insulted for one reason or another. Posters have given you solid advice on a variety of issues over the years but you won't listen. They all end virtually the same way (pictures of rabbits).

Meanwhile, other posters ask sincere questions like in this thread (which has no responses yet). http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=95849

Yes, you do need a rest from BB. Spend some time with your wife and step son. Lay aside the books, lists of apostate churches, log off facebook, and do life with the people around you.

I know I make snide comments and have often responded to Evangelist#### in kind. But Don is right. I (ignoring all warnings from others on the BB) attempted to dialogue even when our brother ventured far…I mean FAR …from biblical doctrine. I have sometimes responded bluntly…but this is a debate forum and Evangelist#### is self-proclaimed bold and confrontational…I didn’t think I was being too harsh. I guess some feel that I, and others, were wrong on that point….they may be right.

But thank you, Don, for pointing out the evolution (devolution) of my attitude towards Evangelist####. My frustration got the best of me and I am faced with examining, not necessarily my replies, but my own attitude through which I replied. I stand by what I wrote (except, of course, the silly “rabbit” type posts) but exasperation does not come close to describing an attempt at honest discourse with John (e.g., his conclusions here: we all need to start sending letters to false churches, we need to stop mocking evangelism, stop mocking the gospel). I once said that I admired John’s zeal, and this is still true. I think he wants to serve God, but until someone can reach out to him in a meaningful way he will remain misguided in so many facets. I find it obvious that the “someone” is not here…but I will pray for him. I guess I was not as patient as I once though myself to be.

Anyway, John….I wish you well, maybe I’ll have “recovered” when you return.
