13-year-old son of slain NYPD officer mourns father on Facebook

In a pair of a heart-wrenching Facebook posts, the son of one of the two NYPD officers killed in Saturday's apparent ambush paid tribute to his slain father.

"This is the worst day of my life," Jaden Ramos, the 13-year-old son of Rafael Ramos, wrote.

"Today I had to say bye to my father," Jaden continued. "He was their [sic] for me everyday of my life, he was the best father I could ask for. It's horrible that someone gets shot dead just for being a police officer. Everyone says they hate cops but they are the people that they call for help. I will always love you and I will never forget you. RIP Dad."

Prayers that the loving hand of God shall be on Jaden and his family as they have to deal with burying a father and a husband and to Officer Liu's widow Pei Xia Chen.

I pray that Christmas is not forever associated with this tragedy for them.

Yet we know it will always be at lest a subtle reminder of their dad's loss! My Grnadpa died on Thanksgiving Day, and even though Thanksgiving Day's never fall on the same calendar date, the holiday was always tinged by the sad reminder of his sudden passing.

If you had spoken the words instead of written them, I believe you would have choked on them.

Yes, never let a chance for personal arguing be wasted.

Poor kid. This will never leave him.

Prayerfully his boys will come to the same loving faith of Jesus Christ that he had and the sting will be softened and replaced with cheerful memories around Christmas.

That poor child. I wish police departments, every one in the nation, would immediately begin addressing and interacting within their communities. People and police are not seeing each other as fully human anymore and that must change.
The gap is widening. We owe it to this child - to all children of the unjustly killed - to make this stop. Peacefully. To teach them how that can be done - but it will take cooperation and a willingness among all to come together and discuss solutions to the divide.
