So help me out and explain why a fake ad of Jerry Falwell endorsing liquor and explaining his first sex encounter was with his mother in an outhouse is satire? Or he endorses the liquor because, "I always get sloshed before I go out to the pulpit. You don’t think I could lay down all that BS sober, do you?"

Difference is the ad being fake, which the Supreme Court actually mentioned. So fake, no one would have thought it was real. Your hypothetical statements weren't obviously fake, intended at poking fun or being ironic.

Seemed plain (to me, anyway) that, while not really qualifying as satire, the two intentionally preposterous statements were intended only as illustration.
