Why should paid maternity leave be a right? After all, that is what you are implying.

There isn't cancer treatment leave, broken bone leave or heart attack leave either. Heartless.

    Why should it be federal?

Each individual corporation should set employee leaves and such. If the US made a federally mandated maternity leave, it wouldn't meet the individual needs of the company nor the new mother employed there.

Too many variables to make this a federal statute.

Marxism says government always must provide the answer.

Step one was passing the Family and Meadical leave act. This law provides certain employees with up to 12 workweeks of unpaid, job-protected leave a year, and requires group health benefits to be maintained during the leave as if employees continued to work

Step two will be partial pay.

Step three will be full pay (for full time employees)
Which means a lot more of part time workers.

As I suspected the pro-lifers are not pro-life once the child is born.

Why is it that y'all do not care for the welfare of either the mother or the child after it is born?

I did not know that babies die for lack of paid maternity leave.

Guess you live in a sheltered world. Lack of help and maternity leave adversely effects the low-income mothers and their children greatly.

Also, how much better off would the mother and child be if they had time together?

It simply shows that most who call themselves pro-lie really are not as they are unwilling to help others in need.

Like the advice that poor and minorities give, if you have a need do not ask the rich or middle class for help. You won't get it.

Pushing for maternity leave does not make up for supporting organizations that slaughter unborn children.

"Time together" is not the same as infant mortality. You are stretching it.

    And "pro-lie"? :tonofbricks:

Apparently some think that the babies that they miss in the womb are worthy of taxpayer support after birth.

    Apples and oranges!

I agree mom should stay home with the child at lest for the next 16 years. Before a women has a child - her and her HUSBAND should ensure they will have the financial resouses to provide properly. And or be willing to make changes - ie give up that second car, give up cable, give up eating out every night, ect.
Yes, I understand there are some execptions -..... but two wrongs do not make a right.

And, "as I suspected", you resort to lying (by implication if not overtly stated!!) to try to skew the truth!!

Why, in the name of all that is good, can you not discuss a topic w/o resorting to your scandalous innuendo of subtly lying whenever you cannot rebut an argument.

I have come to the conclusion that this is typical of "liberals", so really no surprise; just aggravating!!

Incidentally, are you still an alcoholic???
    YES or NO answer ONLY! :tongue3: {Typical of most of your sophomoric statements(?) as displayed in the opening quote.}

He has to do it because he cannot justify his support of Planned Parenthood which slaughters unborn children. He says he does not support abortion but:

    1. He claims scripture says life begins after birth.

    2. He supports organizations like PP which slaughter unborn children.

These two claims do not support not supporting abortion. Sorry it is just inconsistent and not believable.

 Continues to show that the feigned concern is often one of POLITICS and not of care and morality.

How people can summarily be so hypocritical and then think that someone believes they are concerned about life is laughable.

I think Scarlet is more in line with what needs to take place . Employees need to meet a minimum federal requirement ( or else some won't do it) of maternity leave for mothers and fathers. And additional leave should be left up to individual companies

This is sensible. The Family Medical Leave Act provides for 12 weeks paid leave for various reasons, of companies with more than 50 employees, Individual states can expand on those numbers as seen fit as can individual companies.

The OP is dishonest because there are federal laws that give moms paid maternity leave. I think the U.S. has got this covered. I don't think a company should be mandated to give a woman a year off (Canada) or three years (Hungary.)

It's easy to give away other's money. Any judgement somebody makes about your giving is done out of sheer ignorance, and is rebellion to God's words about envy.
