Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was reportedly held captive by Taliban militants for five years, will be charged for desertion, according to sources of retired Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer. Bergdahl was only released after President Barack Obama negotiated with the terrorists, agreeing to release five prisoners from Guantanamo Bay.

Shaffer, senior fellow at the London Center for Policy Research, told Bill O’Reilly on Monday night that his sources have confirmed the Army has concluded its investigation and Bergdahl’s lawyer has been given a “charge sheet” informing him of the desertion charge.

God still hears and answers our prayers!

This restores my faith in the Military Code of Justice. I was happy to hear Obama didn't have any sway over this decision, as this man is clearly a deserter, and deserves to be treated as such!

    Not so fast.

He hasn't gone on trial yet.

I don't believe Obama will allow it while he is C-i-C

At this point, I'll lay odds the Army will delay the trail until after the current POTUS leaves office. The Army has taken itsown sweet time so far and I don't see them speeding up. The Army JAG Corps prosecutors are looking to make this case appeal proof.

That's the Army's way of handling all punishments. They do their best to make the case ironclad. We even did it with guys who we were kicking out for being overweight, even though that should be common sense.

How will the President wiggle out of this seeing he praised him by bringing Mom and Dad on national TV to announce that he was to be released?

This too will pass. Our body politic has developed a remarkable skill for electing clowns for high places; they surround themselves with clowns. Many are amoral and indifferent. The clowns who really run things are the bureaucrats--usually appointed for life. They are the ones who implement the policies which come from the laws which seldom get through the congressional gridlock.

The ones with the most gold(oil) make the rules.

Due process is for everyone--who can afford it. Then there is the UCMJ, Art. 15 and such--another issue.

Charges mean: there is enough evidence for a court procedure. Guilt cannot be established until due process has been exercised. Innocent until proven guilty, beyond a reasonable doubt, is a vital part of our basic freedom. Been there, done that.

Maybe the charge should be: high crimes and misdemeanors.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

My fear isn't if they will convict the man, BUT that King Obama will pardon him. Hopefully the army JAG can drag things out to 2017. Obama has to safe face, and he will do just that.

Pardons are given to those already convicted/condemned.

Interesting: the State released Barabas, a guilty person; yet crucified the innocent: Jesus, the Lamb of God. Pilate said he found no fault in Jesus. The Jews said let his blood be on them and theirs.

Bergdahl needs due process, including a trial per the UCMJ, aka: General Courts Martial. The next president should be presiding by then.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Why the need to play the victim? Not criticizing, just wondering about the motivation behind a prayer such as that. By its face, it seems borne out of a sense of vindictiveness.

Side question: Is there Scriptural support for the existence of a "spirit of criticism"?

    Obsessed with your comments? Curious.

    Oh, I see...

Actually, I heard that the Army is going to stall and not going to charge and try Bergdahl until after president Obama has vacated the WH just for that reason - to keep him from pardoning him.

Nixon was about to be impeached. He resigned instead. Technically he was not convicted--if I am reading this right. President Ford gave Nixon a blanket pardon for crimes which were committed or may have been committed during a certain time frame against the U.S.

A pardon is the removal of the offense and the penalty.

In the spiritual: God has removed our offenses as far as the East from the West, never more to be remembered. The penalty was paid by Jesus, The Christ. We have been pardoned--redeemed is a better word.

The concept of pardon does not fit someone who says he is not guilty.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

Why the need to play the victim? Stop with the name calling. You sound like a parrot stuck on "can I have a cracker!"

Side question: Is there Scriptural support for the existence of a "spirit of criticism"? As a matter of fact there is: Romans 14:10 “Why do you criticize and pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you look down upon or despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God. 12 And so each of us shall give an account of himself - give an answer in reference to judgment - to God. 13 Then let us no more criticize and blame and pass judgment on one another, but rather decide and endeavor never to put a stumbling block or an obstacle or a hindrance in the way of a brother.” (The Amplified Bible)

    What Causes a Critical Spirit?

    1. Negativeness - A bad attitude and a negative view of life. A person may have unconfessed sin in their life (Rom. 2:1), or may harbor unforgiveness or bitterness toward someone who may have offended them (Heb. 12:15).

    2. Insecurity - Criticism is often a subconscious means to “elevate one’s own self image.” By putting others down, they are inwardly trying to feel more important or that “they know more.” Jealousy toward the spiritual victories of others is often the cause of criticism and belittling comments. Popular ministers of the Gospel are often the target of such tactics.

    3. Immaturity - Believers must always keep their focus upon Christ and His Word, not man, who will often fail (Heb. 12:2). The young or immature believer who has not progressed very far in their own faith, remain overly dependent upon the faith of those within the body of Christ. Unfortunately, when they begin to notice the flaws in their brethren, subconsciously, this becomes a threat to their own sense of victory. Criticism becomes a reaction of disappointment, because their expectations in others have been crushed.

    4. An Unrenewed Mind - Put-downs, making-fun-of, criticism, sarcasm are the world’s ways of reacting to the faults of people. However, as Christians we don’t behave this way. Our thinking and attitude should be renewed by the Word of God, which teaches us to bear the infirmities of the weak, to love, and show compassion and encouragement (Rom. 12:2).

    5. The Devil - As we may realize, the Devil specializes in influencing obsessive behavior. He may use any or all of the above channels, or other techniques, to influence a complaining or critical attitude to stir up turmoil and strife within the body of Christ (Eph. 6:12). We must be on guard that none of us would be used as a tool of the Devil to bring harassment or discouragement upon our brothers or sisters through continual criticism, as the Bible warns us not to “give place” to the Devil (Eph. 4:27). Remember that Satan is specifically called “the accuser of the brethren” (Rev. 12:10). Are you an accuser of the brethren?

The Bible says that the reason that we are to come together as a church is, not to criticize, but to “exhort” (encourage) one another (Hebrews 10:25). “Cursing the darkness” won’t change anything, but we must light a candle and “expose the light” of God’s Word. By sharing the truth of God’s Word, and encouraging people to live in its truth, people will change. Love and encouragement is a “motivational force.”

If we ever hope to bring improvement in others, we need to become people of encouragement. This is the only attitude that will change people, and our actions and words must be devoted to encouraging the spiritual progress of our brethren.

The Christian’s tongue should never be used for anything but good. “Let no foul or polluting language, nor evil word, nor unwholesome or worthless talk (ever) come out of your mouth; but only such speech as is good and beneficial to the spiritual progress of others, as is fitting to the need and the occasion, that it may be a blessing and give grace (God’s favor) to those who hear it” (Eph. 4:29 The Amplified Bible).

It is becoming evident brother, that you not only have a critical spirit, but one that is contrary when it comes to me. You are l ooking for an argument, fight and to poke. Do us both a favor and if you hate me that much, put me on ignore! Or you will ned to confess a ton of sin at the end of your responses to my posts!

And for additional info on your critical spirit and a warning, read this link (I doubt you will, but you asked and I supplied): http://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-criticism.html

Obsessed with your comments? Curious. Whatever! I am not a mind reader, but your actions do cause me concern for your witness. Only you know the reasons you are dogging me, but if you want to debate, do it. Just stop with the petty stuff, and the victim moniker. You and I both know that is not anywhere near true, it is merely you repeating what another member started last year, and you picked up on and continued to throw out there when it suits you well and helps t avoid an honest debate! Godbless you Roth!

Grow up Bruder. Ihre Eskapaden sind alt und um ehrlich zu sein, es macht dich klein und un christlike aussehen!

RD- I am sorry that you think that I am picking on you. You occasionally post things that invite good-natured (yes, good-natured) jest or that, as in this case, warrant clarification.

No, I will not add you to my Ignore List. I do not maintain one. If I am a thorn, perhaps I should be on yours.

Your apology accepted and appreciated. You are not a thorn. And I am sorry if my feelings seem to be on my shoulder. It is difficult to know "good natured kidding" when you can't see the eyes or facial expressions of the person kidding with you. That is one reason for using emoticons. You may try it :love2:
