I'm curious, is this a first for SBC president(s)?

I mean, did the SBC call for U.S. intervention in the Darfur genocide where est. 1.5 million people were massacred, many or most of which were Christians?

Did the SBC call for U.S. intervention in the Palestinian expulsion where thousands of Palestinians, many who were Christians, were massacred or forced from their land as refugees?

Is this a first for the SBC?

Why the sudden interest with ISIS? What makes this different from soooo many other atrocities that has occurred in recent history?

It is odd isn't it. I'm curious about those questions too.

Also, is it just me or is this at odds with the BFM 2000?

XVI. Peace and War

It is the duty of Christians to seek peace with all men on principles of righteousness. In accordance with the spirit and teachings of Christ they should do all in their power to put an end to war.

The true remedy for the war spirit is the gospel of our Lord. The supreme need of the world is the acceptance of His teachings in all the affairs of men and nations, and the practical application of His law of love. Christian people throughout the world should pray for the reign of the Prince of Peace.

ISIS threatens to destabilize all of our hard work in over in Absurdistan.

Anyway, the president has already asked for an AUMF, so shouldn't this letter be addressed to the House ?
