It sounds to me like this is a personal beef and he is just using all his bellowing as an excuse.

Businesses should be able to turn away whoever they like, including gays and lesbians.

But I question the wisdom of doing so, both biblically and businesswise.

I suppose it might depend on the nature of the business and the product offered.

The business owner mentioned here may be looking for an excuse to change his business profile and using this issue to do so. Seems that it would have no effect on his business. He can still hire anyone he wants to.

OTOH Bravo for the governor. Business blackmail is still blackmail. Salesforce should go somewhere else if he doesn't like the business climate in Indiana.

Yeah, GenCon threatened to leave Indianapolis with their annual convention but I think that Gov. Pence went ahead and signed the bill in a private ceremony in the Governor's Office in the Indiana Statehouse.

Also, as I posted in another thread, the Disciples of Christ is threatening to move out of Indiana, which would be a good thing. I think that they should move to West Hollywood.

GenCon is a colorful convention of people who like to play online games. They dress in various costumes and have a good time. I don't know why they got involved in this issue since their organization is headquartered in a state that has the same law. By the way, the law passed overwhelming in both houses of the Indiana state legislature. GenCon is the largest convention to use the Indianapolis convention facilities.

I disagree that we should be made to provide services like cakes or officiating weddings. Neither do I agree that we should turn them away for everything under the sun. As far as I am concerned their money spends the same way. As long as I am not doing anything that may condone their lifestyle.

Exact Target is an email advertising firm. I have met some of them and they are nice people. Our system is majority rule with minority rights. This state legislation is what Clinton passed at the national level and the majority of Hoosiers supported this legislation by more than two to one.

Indianapolis has seen some mom and pop businesses put out of business by the gay community and Hoosiers have had enough. A business owner should be allowed to say that he does wedding cakes for a man and a woman and does not do any other kind of cake and try the place down the street.

I think that the bill passed the legislature by 3 to 1.

    Here is what Pence said:

Dem/libs hate the free exercise of religion and want to shut it down.

    Haters just gotta hate.

Targus, you are correct! It turns out that the federal law passed by Clinton was declared constitutional. Illinois has the same law and it was voted for in the Illinois state legislature by Barack Obama.

    The liberals must be daft.

Do you mean Bill Clinton and Chuck Schumer?

The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993, Pub. L. No. 103-141, 107 Stat. 1488 (November 16, 1993), codified at 42 U.S.C. § 2000bb through 42 U.S.C. § 2000bb-4 (also known as RFRA), is a 1993 United States federal law aimed at preventing laws that substantially burden a person's free exercise of religion. The bill was introduced by Congressman Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on March 11, 1993 and passed by a unanimous U.S. House and a near unanimous U.S. Senate with three dissenting votes[1] and was signed into law by President Bill Clinton.

Why do CTB's threads always seem to backfire on him?

Are you saying that Obama, who voted for such a law in Illinois, voted for Jim Crow?:laugh::laugh:

Why can't you figure out a google for Illinois for yourself?

    http://standupforreligiousfreedom.com/2015/inrfra/

Illinois: Illinois' RFRA was also modeled after the unconstitutional federal law. It passed the House in early spring of 1988. It passed the Senate on 1998-MAY-19. 4 It was vetoed by Governor Jim Edgar because he wanted to exclude prisoners from being able to exercise rights under the bill. He was concerned "that inmates not be free to pursue gang interests under the guise of religious exercise." The Illinois House overrode the veto by a vote of 110 to 3; the Senate followed suit on 1998-DEC-3 with a vote of 55 to 0. 5 Joseph Levine of the American Jewish Committee commented: "By overriding Gov. Jim Edgar's amendatory veto, which excluded prisoners from religious liberty guarantees provided under RFRA, the Illinois General Assembly has affirmed that everyone in Illinois, including the most powerless and unpopular, has the right to practice his or her religion without undue interference from the government."

Nothing in your link says Obama voted for this bill. Please show where he voted for it or we can safely assume he did not vote for it.

I think you are simply blowing smoke again.

It says that the veto was overridden 55-0 in the Illinois Senate--I don't have the info from inside Illinois but I have 2 links that I have given you as well as 1 other that is a sodomite link admitting the same thing.

Dems will do anything for a buck. They will make cakes for sodomite weddings or Satanists masses, or nazi birthday parties or KKK rallies or Planned Parenthood eugenics fests.

Let the Dems get rich with special shops for gays.

All I can say is "WOW!!"

Maybe CTB thinks that the "0" in a vote of 55 to 0 means Obama!
