Can you imagine that? Seven dead, 38 wounded over the Fourth of July weekend in Chicago by gunfire.

But nationwide, not one black killed by a cop. This continues to prove that the activism and anti-cop rhetoric is like crying wolf when the the real problem is much, much larger then a few cops that may have erred or acted out of boundaries with deadly force.

Obama needs to fix the real problem, and not some convoluted one. Wake up Chicago. Your man in Washington has failed you miserably. :tear:

Why am I not surprised that the city over which Rahm Emanuel (one of BO's closest advisors for many years until he left 1600 PA Ave to run for & win the Windy City's last mayoral election) is mayor is one of the most crime-ridden, unsafe, gun-infested major US cities?

Shootings over the Fourth of July weekend left 10 people dead and 55 others wounded, a toll lower than last year but one marked by an intense stretch of gun violence over eight hours on one of the nights.

    < snip >

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said the weekend outbreak in violence shows the number of officers working the streets isn't as critical in preventing shootings as having effective gun laws that put gun offenders behind bars for a long time. McCarthy has long contended that Illinois' sentencing laws for gun crimes are too lenient.

"If you think that putting more cops on the street would make a difference, then take a look at the fact that we put a third more manpower on the street for this weekend," McCarthy said. "What's the result? We're getting more guns. Well, that's great. It's not stopping the violence.

"And it's not going to stop the violence until criminals are held accountable and something is done to stem the flow of these guns into our city."

That was exactly my point .... more cops then normal on the streets, and yet no cops shooting blacks took place. What does that say to the racists on this board and in the White House, and Sharpton's backyard? HELLO!

The real problem: humans are evil and have a sin nature.

But why does it actualize so much more in some places than others?

SIN doesn't do that. It's an equal opportunity actualizer. Perhaps the better question is why do some folks THINK that it actualizes itself more in some places than others?

It says interventionist policies of control don't work. What's the interventionist's answer to the failure of their policies of control?

    We need more control.

It's not all that different with the neocon's policy of intervention. Every time their interventions fail they tell us more intervention is the answer.
