    If convicted Bergdahl deserves a life sentence.

    I think that's what the Army JAG is looking for. While a desertion conviction sounds "sexier", in this case it's harder for the prosecution to make its burden of proof for that charge. From the looks of the article cited, the burden of proof is less onerous.

    He deserves that at least, especially since several men lost their life looking for him with the thoughts he had been captured! Custer would have put a bullet in him! Patton would have slapped him silly, and put him on trial for desertion! Obama, well, he welcomes him and his parents back with a Rose Garden ceremony and press conference!
