Let's see if I am understanding this .... Obama was a missing senator, ran for president and won? Rubio is following in the same footsteps and is wanting to be our president?

What would happen to you and I if we missed half of the work days we were scheduled for? What would happen if we decided to do another job, full time, while still working at our job and collecting a paycheck, but didn't show up at our fulltime job while scheduled to.work?

Why do the people allow their elected leaders to run for another office while still holding another office, an office that they purposely neglect in order to run for the other office? We, as a country have allowed this shabby form of job performance way too long, and something needs to be done.

Maybe the elected official should take a leave of absence without pay? Maybe they should just resign their office? Whatever the answer, something needs to be fixed, because not doing the job does not serve the public who elected and pays them for that job.

What do you think about holding politicians to a higher standard of job performance while they serve us?

And who determines the standard? The voters at the ballot box.

I was running for City council several years ago. In my statement I said, I promise to fuillfill my entire term - specifically I would NOT seek another office as long as I would hold this office.
Just as I was saying that - a State Assemblyman walked in. Though he still had a full year on his current term - he was seeking another office.
The press never made mentioned it..........

IMHO - they should resign. oh - by the way - when I did run for City Council - my employer did NOT give me any paid time off to run......

The city council - is just part time - with real "part time pay "somewehe about 15 grand a year.
The Assemblyman pay was about 80 grand a year - but he was running for County Executive - about 100 grand a year.

Is it fair - No - but that is life -
    I just deal with it.

I always felt that if you were running for The Presidency and you were an incumbent politician on the national level(Congressman) or Governor of a state, you should be required to resign. The only exception should be Vice Presidents.

We don't often AGREE, but when do it deserves a bit of fanfare and celebration.
