You can see it on this video. If you want to skip to the actual incident, scroll forward to the 9:00 minute mark.

Watched it several times. At this point I have to give the benefit of doubt to the govt.

Media said they were free to come and go and that the govt. wanted a PEACEFUL end. Govt. had choppers in the air, followed them, complete road block - they set up a questionable situation in light of their retoric.

I'm sick of seeing folks shot and killed.

Why on earth would he throw his arms up like he wanted to give up and then do what he did?

    Senseless.

LaVoy Finicum 2K Color with SloMotion (Stabilized)

Though several law enforcement vehicles were present at the scene, the FBI has only released the aerial footage of the incident. The video’s inconclusiveness as to Finicum’s intentions will no doubt lead to intense debate about whether police were justified in the shooting or whether it is another example of trigger-happy officials overstepping their bounds with deadly consequences.

Can you provide some links to support these assertions? Not that I don't believe you I just think the more evidence we get to see the better.

Yes, it was. When he exited the vehicle he put his hands up in the universal sign of surrender/submission."

Then, for no good reason I can discern, he dropped his hands and reached into his coat.

Had I been there I would have shot him too.

His furtive movements were senseless. If he was not armed the only thing I can surmise is "suicide by cop." However, the turning of the left shoulder back and reaching under the left arm with the right hand are classic movements indicating drawing a concealed handgun from a shoulder holster.

If he was armed only an idiot thinks he can out shoot several federal officers.

Local Portland news mentioned the fbi had said the occupiers were free to come and go - of course they may have changed their minds along the way. Since they blocked the road they changed their mind at some point.

Several times it was reported that feds wanted a peaceful resolution. Gov. of OR jumped in asking for the authorities to end the standoff.

Most of the reports were totally one sided of course. They interviewed several that were against the occupation but none of the supporters that I saw on the news.

Personal opinion of course but I doubt they would have been on the road if they thought a road block was in their future. Really hard to know at this point with the lack of information thus far.

They fled the police which immediately destroys Bundy's narrative that he was cooperating. High speed pursuit (he was behind the wheel) is not an act of cooperation. He wasn't shot when his hands were outstretched. He definitely was shot while dropping a hand towards his waist and of one of the people in the vehicle has testimony of him saying "just shoot me." He was also on tape earlier making it very clear that he would rather die then go to jail. It appears that he goaded the officers into firing intentionally. We've all seen a lot worse over the years with regards to police shootings.

Anyone could see that nabbing these guys offsite was the preferred endgame from the feds point of view. They were delusional if they actually believed that they "were free to come and go."

Yeah, nobody is going to find some drawn up agreement that that they had free reign to go to meetings, rallies, late night Wendy's runs, etc. It's crazy that they acted shocked that they were being rounded up. Also funny how they placed all of the leadership in a two vehicle convoy resulting in the arrests of the key players in one fell swoop. What stinks though is that the remaining members at the refuge seem to be leaderless unhinged lunatics that are doubling down on the threats.

That's what I meant TC. That's the type of stuff you do if you want to get shot. AT one point it looked like he was trying to unholster a gun that would have been inside his left arm pit area with his right hand. But he had to know that was gonna get him shot. Plus it looked like if he was trying to unholster a gun, it got stuck.

I could have saved myself some typing if I had read the rest of your statement:D.

The government has wanted a killing from day one to demonstrate their authority. They finally got one.

Nah, they actually showed about a months worth of patience and didn't pass up a target of opportunity with all key leadership being rounded up in one fell swoop. It's kind of hilarious to see you defending every shooting up until now as a good shooting and all of a sudden you are portraying law enforcement as having an insatiable bloodlust. This guy forced the issue.

The Feds didn't ask for a high speed pursuit and the guy had every opportunity to go peacefully yet resisted. You know this. It's an inconsistent stance you are taking here for some reason.

What's the name of the guy who shot him that had to show him the Government's authority? I assume you know him since you are willing to let us all in on his motivation. I guess he should have just let the guy draw a weapon.

You are always assuming something. Not right very often, but it never seems to slow you down.

You have also been calling for a killing since day one, pleading for the government to "do something". Any fool would know that when they did, someone would die. You finally got it. Happy?

Are you so naive as to not believe that when the government actually "did something" that was pleaded for on this very board, that someone would die?

    Really? Rolleyes

What did you expect? Hugs and kisses?

This is a bold face lie that not one person will see while reading this thread. Post reported.

I'm sorry has the Government stormed the refuge? Nope. These guys were arrested on the interstate after leading police in a high speed pursuit. There wouldn't be any bloodshed if the person had just cooperated. It's ironic that I have to explain that to you since you usually champion that line of reasoning yourself.

I'm always assuming something but I guess this isn't an assumption.

I guess ITL was right, in addition to speculation, I guess only you get to make those as well.
