I keep hearing that a third party candidate is possible; and that it would hurt Trump! Personally, I do not believe a third party candidate will hurt Trump anymore than it would hurt or help.Clinton or Sanders.

    1) It is too little too late.
    2) Trump is too locked in with his supporters, any votes he doesn't get from those going to the third party candidate will hurt Clinton/ Sanders as much or more than it would Trump. In fact it may help him in the end, as it gives those who don't want either candidate, another valid choice, and that would more than likely give Trump a slight lead in overall votes.

But enough of my thoughts. What are your views on how a third party candidate would help or hurt either the GOP or DNC?

Run a third party truly conservative candidate, and who do you think it's gonna hurt: the party that prides itself for it's faux conservatism or the the party that's seen as liberal?

    This isn't rocket science.

Not all. I'm not voting for Trump and I would vote third party. There are a handful of others here on BB of the same mindset. Therefore, there must be millions of us nationwide.

Absolutely. I'm just itching for a REAL conservative to run and I'd vote for him/her in a split second. If they love Jesus and other people and aren't for killing babies and adults, I'm onboard.

It all would depend on who is running as a third party. Krystal is having trouble getting somebody to run against Trump and Hillary because that would be letting Trump run you out of your own party and Hillary is polling poorly these days. They have all - Ted, JEB, Kasich - said no.

People like that want a Ross Perot, but Trump and Sanders are both arguably closer to being that than Hillary. Sanders running third party would assure a Hillary loss.
