Could Southern Baptist Russell Moore lose his job? Churches threaten to pull funds after months of Trump controversy

Concern is mounting among evangelicals that Russell Moore, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s policy arm, could lose his job following months of backlash over his critiques of President Trump and religious leaders who publicly supported the Republican candidate. Any such move could be explosive for the nation’s largest Protestant denomination, which has been divided over politics, theology and, perhaps most starkly, race.

    This would be unfortunate.

It would be very unfortunate. He is correct in this case and I believe that it would be very wrong for him to lose his job over this.

His soft-pedaling on abortion and gay issues would give me far more concern than who he opposed for president.

I listened to his speech "Can the Religious Right be Saved" and thought it was spot on speech. If he loses his job over for not supporting Trump it would just be one more piece of mounting evidence that American Evangelicals are more wedded to the Republican Party than they are to the truth of Scripture.
Now I'm not a Southern Baptist, I've only gone to an SBC church for about a year after getting married, but I'm well aware of the influence the SBC has on Evangelical culture at large in the US.
Ironically though if he is removed for not supporting Trump it will make him even more of a "prophetic minority" instead of being part of the "moral majority"

I hope he doesn't. He is the prophetic voice of sanity in the SBC.
