From the Faithful Word Bap church thread

So are you able to prove Tom wrong?

Have you changed any doctrine because of what you have learned on BB?

No, but my primary purpose was/is to learn our differences to develop a better understanding thereof.

I will say that in a secondary role I have entered into lively debates to convince others to at least consider my views.

I can honestly say that i have considered views of others but as of yet have not recapitulated any of my own.

That is not to say there hasn't been modifications here and there - nothing major.

Since I joined the BB in 2001 i have moved farther away from my former KJVO stand.

I am totally undecided betwixt C and A but will occasionally play "devil's advocate" on one side or the other.

My gut feeling that KJVO was wrong was confirmed and reinforced here on BB.
Though I'm still pre-trib pre-mill, I'm open to other eschatological positions, except preterism.
I have a clearer understanding of Calvinism and the arguments supporting it.
I no longer am a strong adherent of closed, local church member only communion.
I have no more clarity on age of the earth than I had before I found BB.

My position regarding Calvinism has changed. When I came here in 2001 I held what I would consider to be Reformation Arminianism. Speaking with some of the Calvinists (and anti-Calvinists) here led me to abandon that position and agree with the "five points" with a few reservations. Continued dialogue gave greater substance to these reservations as I could no longer reconcile Calvinism or Arminianism with Scripture. While the BB did not convince me that a position was correct, the arguments on both sides illustrated what I precieved as a flaw and drove me back to Scripture. So in this way my position was changed directly because of the BB and the fellowship/iron-sharpening iron that sometimes happens around here when we aren’t looking.

I have changed my doctrine so radically since coming here, that I am almost unrecognizable to people I knew well a few years ago in terms of what I believe. I will have to give this a lot of time and effort, which I'll do later as I am tired after today's labor. However, the biggest change in doctrine is that I came here a Charismatic evangelical and am now a classical cessationist. That was the first 20 or so posts of my journey here and I'm now over 500 posts in!

Not much will change in most folks as their reason for being here is to debate others like into submission and when they can't they work to demean, belittle, or even destroy those with whom they disagree with.

Went from being a Bapticostalist, to a Dispy, now now being a reformed Baptist, and now historical premil, and no longer charasmatic!

Major doctrinal change... no nothing here.
But there have been a few KJVO's that have been softened and melted.

On the BB I’ve met some strange people with even stranger beliefs.

I’ve been posting for 15 years, I hope I haven’t remained the same!

On this board I’ve clarified my positions in writing.
I’ve explored what I believe and modified my positions.
    I’ve explored unfamiliar doctrines

Part of my change may be that I’m just getting old but over the years …I hope… I’ve become more accepting of others.

I’ve …almost… learned to keep my posts civil and Christ-like.

It has galvanized me even more to appreciate the Sovereign Grace Preterist/Hyper-Monergist beliefs that I had when I came here.
