There are lot's of public sector unions in NJ and their wages and other benefits costs money, a lot of money. The Democrats have pretty much held all the power for many years and high taxes is the normal consequence as they made extravagant deal after deal with the unions. Thankfully I left that state 40 years ago and have never looked back.
Honestly thats a mere portion of it. Most here have become comfortable with the life style they lead. Therefore spend lavishly on schools & teachers (hang the cost) after all, its for the kids. Put in 20 cops in a small town when 6 are sufficient. Hire DPW employees when contractors are sufficient....I could go on forever. Then after you have bled people white, then you start an initiative to reevaluate the property so you can increase taxes .... looking for anything to bump up your properties worth for more revenue (this was done recently through combined Democrat & Republican initiatives ---Hint, Hint Chris Christy). All during a recessionary time frame when you really should be looking to a devaluation of the properties worth. (But you cant do that!!!)
NJ has a reputation as being the foreclosure capital of the USA, our economic posture is no longer the Go Go 80's and 90's. The high cost of everything has put us in the dumpster......so they do most people do, while here they put up with the economic rape until they decide to leave ..... then they find that out the house that the real estate people told them was $X,XXX,XXX is actually $xxx,xxx----
"Ahhhh crap, I gotta take a loss....but, but, but...."
Well now the Democrats have a real solid hold in the state.....with the exception of 3 counties, its in their hands. And this guy (the New Governor) is a Goldman Boy intent on bringing in Total Gambling
(I can have a slot machine in my kitchen--to quote a TV advertisement) & we can legalize pot, possibly prostitution. Time to move!
