thehill.com/homenews/house/363282-conyers-announces-retirement-amid-sexual-misconduct-allegations

"Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.), who for weeks has been the target of sexual misconduct allegations, announced on Tuesday that he will retire from the House."

"Conyers, the lower chamber’s current longest-serving member, told a Detroit-area radio station that he is endorsing his son, John Conyers III, for his seat....'I want you to know that my legacy will continue through my children,' John Conyers told host Mildred Gaddis."

Term limits!

Well you know what happens, you get a scoundrel in the political system who gets the peoples adoration will be hard to depose. Even if he is later exposed for what he is---a thief, a womanizer, a time server, a liar, the public becomes hysterical at the attacks on him. In fact, the public will attack the outraged attackers of their darling. But Hank, you know all this, right. :Sneaky

Term limits will be far less attractive to the political sloth than the loooong term life of power, luxury, lying, partying, sensuality, imbibing and gluttony.

You cant expect the electorate to have any brains anyway. In any regard, they are not effective in choosing capable politicians who serves the people, really serves them out of conviction -- they eventually will be despised by them as a naive imbecile.... what they really crave the scoundrel.

You speak like thats a bad thing. Perhaps we should not let them "Entrench" but it generally the norm. Like for example, The voters were only to happy to make Chris Christy , NJ's governor.....being the Attorney General and all, he worked to put Jerrod Kushners father & other known miscreants behind bars & we are all sure that he would be just as diligent in the position of NJ Governor. He made a half hearted attempt to emulate Scott Walker with dismantling unions but got cold feet when he saw what he was up against....then he abandoned it. He came to my town & in the Legion Hall told the townsfolk his only interest was being the best Governor New Jersey ever had......blah blah blah. So he runs for a 2nd term and easily is swept back in office. Now he really goes to work.....he manipulates the closing of the GW Bridge (1st day of school after Labor Day) so he could influence a big construction/development project, begins a full bore presidential campaign where he is never in NJ (doing his job), worked for Trump till Jerrod threw him out (totally ignoring his Governor Job), put the state in junk bond status, raised property taxes yada. In the end he couldn't get elected dog catcher.
