So the oldest of this generation just turned 17? Well, that's very young, so the beliefs aren't very firm but still only 13 percent identify as atheist - that tells me the word isn't a pejorative as much as it was in the past.

These atheist kids gave "too much suffering in the world" as a main reason for their atheism - that smacks of naivety and inexperience. Still, you don't want to turn into Norway:

For First Time in History, Atheism Overtakes Religious Faith in Norway

so maybe churches here should put extra outreach in their efforts to reach these kids .

Yes, I thought about that two -- a survey of 3 to 17 year olds.

    And their teachers.

    Probably not their pastors, though.

My Grandmother used to take me by the hand almost every day and walk me to church when I was a young boy...took me to stations of the cross too. I learned from that old women that God was active in my life... indeed active in all our lives and we could trust him. It was a benevolent world that she introduced me into

My point is, do they do that today Do they take an active roll in introcucing kids to God? I think not.

You know that when I speak to people I ask how God is working in their lives. It gets them thinking.
