"Deeming the information demanded immediate action and could not be deferred to a regular meeting of the Board, based on the details presented, the Executive Committee unanimously resolved to terminate Dr. Paige Patterson, effective immediately, removing all the benefits, rights and privileges provided by the May 22-23 board meeting, including the title of President Emeritus, the invitation to reside at the Baptist Heritage Center as theologian-in-residence and ongoing compensation."

The board at South Western is making themselves appear to be a pack of bumbling buffoons. They earlier said Patterson properly handled what they are supposedly now firing him for. They are not operating in the light and their closed door deals are making them look either corrupt or stupid.

Did Patterson properly recant and refute what was apparently set against him at the "other institution" prior to being hired at SWBTS?

If he did, then the actions of the board are totally wrong.

If he did not, then the actions of the board are totally wrong in hiring him in the first place.

The board members need replaced. They are either unethical or incompetent in the care over SWBTS.

I fully agree. They seem to be blaming their failures on Patterson.

There are very few good seminaries anymore. :Frown Sometimes I wonder if the Church would be better off scrapping the entire seminary system, and going back to individual discipleship to train called men. Imagine if Pastors were selected based on their god-given abilities rather than their degrees? Just imagine.

It's just a thought. I could be persuaded otherwise.

I have thought that for a very long time.
