"We honestly didn't see that one coming. Our kids went to this school," Pence said on Tuesday at an event for the Alliance Defending Freedom, in reference to the backlash. "As a Christian believer, we're charged to pray for our loved ones, but also pray for our enemies. You have lots of opportunities in politics to do that."

Pence went on to offer some advice for Americans on the matter. "No. 1 is spend more time on your knees than on the internet," he said. "Forgiveness is a great gift."

I like Mike Pence and that he speaks out for Christian values. But at the same time I have concerns about him getting the nomination in 2024 because I don't think the country will be ready for a Christian dominance and he will get eaten alive for his values and won't have the fight to handle it and this could jeopardize a continuing Republican leadership.

You are worried about Christian “dominance” leading to a jeopardized Republican leadership? This...worries you?

True and sad to say that IMO brother Pence is an establishment figure head, a righteous one but an establishmentarian.

As part of my job description I am on the internet for at least six hours a day. I simply could not work without being on the internet. Mr. Pence, am I supposed to "spend more than six hours a day on my knees, praying?"

I'm certain I'm not the only Christian that is on the internet for work reasons for hours a day.

Can you not assume he was not talking about those who work online?

I did not hear the speech itself, but it sounds like contextually he meant, ‘Spend more time on your knees praying for others than on the Internet criticizing them or arguing with them.’

I don't know for sure. Politicians are professional speechifiers. They should choose their words carefully.

OK, then he should have said "you ought to spend more time on your knees in prayer than you do arguing on Facebook and Twitter" or something similar.

Don't misunderstand, I like Pence. I know he's a devout Catholic. He meant well. It's just that I get a little defensive when politicians tell Christians how they should live out their faith. I'm sure everyone is impressed by Pete Butigieg's admonishments. Or Jesse Jackson's. Or Barack Obama's, or <take your pick>.

I would have preferred he spelled it out a wee bit as well, though see the platform as irrelevant. Maybe I should pray for him more.
But did he mean just Christians? Perhaps it should be interpreted to mean those of all faiths, and those who don’t pray should just shut up. :Wink

I understand its difficult for you to allow for the forming of a conclusion using more than one premise at a time, Use of Time, but I’ll try to make it simple for you. My apologies in advance for causing you so much confusion.

What I am getting at is, that I do not believe the country will be ready for an outspoken Christian who openly intends to form policies according to his Christian principles, morals and values. In leadership, one will react according to his moral values, that is a given, but to express that one will use the “dominating” power of the Executive Office to further Christian values? I think it would be dishonest to deny the Left would have a BIG problem with that they would resort to their typical anti-Christian dysphemisms wherein my "concern" is that Pence would not put up the fight necessary to counter this effectively.

My hope is that our country will move away from the Anti-Christian/Don’t say Merry Christmas/Take down the 10 Commandments/Remove the “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance, etc., type attitudes but I doubt the country will have enough of a change by 2024. I’d fear in 2024 that enough of the Left’s base and Independents would be energized against a move toward a more Christian leadership, therefore it (Pence) could jeopardize the possibility of continuing a Republican trend to turn away from Progressive Globalist Ideology and preserve an American First pursuit of Liberty based on the founding of with Christian principles – which, of course, the Left would also deny.

It will take time to undo all the anti-Christian sentiments established by the Left over the years. They have infiltrated our schools with their ideology, PC acceptable thinking, further polluted the minds of unbelievers, attacked gender, marriage and family values and discounted morality with vile relativism beliefs. But, God willing if we keep on the right track there will come a day that we have reversed this trend, when a good and strong Christian leadership will be considered an asset to our country by the majority rather than an offense to the desire to live by strictly worldly values according to whatever their depraved minds can come up with.

Nah, man, I've been telling myself it is a complete waste of time to even get caught up in the rhetoric for a year leading to the 2020 election, the Left and media will be predicting an overturn and coming up with all kinds of garbage polls and scandals and such but in the end they're not going to win. I know I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch but I'm thinking I don't want to look back in a year to realize how much energy I've spent getting wrapped up in the silly politics when my time would be better spent elsewhere. I think 2024 will be much more interesting and by then I might be semi-retired and have more time to jump into the political ring for some good ole sparing matches to keep me on my toes. [IMG]
