    4. THE GREEK WORD MEANINGS OF THE WITHIN SCRIPTURE CONTEXT LINKING THE NEW TESTAMENT BACK TO THE OLD TESTAMENT?

We have seen from the previous sections; looking at the “CHAPTER CONTEXT” in COLOSSIANS 2:11-14 that the “SUBJECT MATTER” and the “TOPIC OF CONVERSATION” prior to COLOSSIANS 2:16 are the “SHADOW LAWS” from the “MOSAIC BOOK OF THE COVENANT IN “ORDINANCES” (e.g. CIRCUMCISION) that point to JESUS and God’s plan of salvation in the NEW COVENANT.

    What is being discussed here is NOT THE 10 COMMANDMENTS for which God’s 4th Commandment SABBATH is a part of. So the next question is;

“WHAT IS THE GREEK WORD MEANING AND APPLICATION USED HERE FOR SABBATH and the WITHIN SCRIPTURE CONTEXT AND APPLICAION?”

    So in this section I would like to discuss the meaning of the GREEK word for “SABBATH” (SABBATON) which is different to the HEBREW Word meaning which provides a different meaning depending on it’s application and can mean;

    1. “the SABBATH (God’s 4th commandment)” or
    2. “ANY DAY OF REST OR REPOSE FROM SECULAR WORK” or
    3. “A SEVEN DAY WEEK”

Depending on the words applcaion within the scriptures, all the word definitions listed above can be applied in singular form or in plural application.

Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries w/TVM, Strong - G4521

σάββατον sabbaton Of Hebrew origin [H7676]; the Sabbath (that is, Shabbath), or day of weekly repose from secular avocations (also the observance or institution itself); by extension a se'nnight, that is, the interval between two Sabbaths; likewise the plural in all the above applications: - sabbath (day), week.

This means ALL the ANNUAL FEAST days that were not the SEVENTH DAY but where no work was to be done are also translated as SABBATON in the Greek.

Let’s apply this now to COLOSSIANS 2:16 asking the question which definition should be applied here; what is the meaning that COLOSSIANS 2:16 is applying?

OK lets now look at the "within scripture context" of COLOSSIANS 2:16 linking the ORIGIN of the OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT scriptures that PAUL is referring to.

COLOSSIANS 2:16 [16] Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT, or in DRINK, or in respect of an HOLYDAY [FEASTIVALS], or of the NEW MOON, or of the SABBATH DAY <plural>:

PAUL'S within scriptures CONTEXT and use of COLOSSIANS 2:16-17 is in reference to the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures also liked here…..

EZEKIEL 45:17 [17] And it shall be the prince's part to give BURNT OFFERINGS, and MEAT OFFERINGS, and DRINK OFFERINGS, in the FEASTS, and in the NEW MOONS, and in the SABBATHS, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

NUMBERS 28 [9] And on the Sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a MEAT OFFERING, mingled with oil, and the DRINK OFFERING thereof: [10] This is the burnt offering of EVERY SABBATH, beside the continual BURN'T OFFERING, and his DRINK OFFERING.

ISAIAH 1:10-14 [10] Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.[11] To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I AM FULL OF THE BURNT OFFERINGS of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.[12] When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?[13] BRING NO MORE VAIN OBLATIONS; incense is an abomination unto me; THE NEW MOONS AND SABBATHS, THE CALLING OF ASSEMBLIES (annual festivals), I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.[14] Your NEW MOONS and your APPOINTED FEASTS my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

LEVITICUS 23:4 [4] These are THE FEASTS OF THE LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. [5] In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is THE LORD'S PASSOVER. [6] And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the Lord: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread…… [13] And the MEAT OFFERING thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the Lord for a sweet savour: and the DRINK OFFERING thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin.

HOSEA 2:11 [11], I will also cause all her mirth to CEASE, HER [ISRAEL'S] FEAST DAYS, her NEW MOONS, and HER SABBATHS, and all HER [ISRAELS] SOLEMN FEASTS.

wait for it back to the NEW...

HEBREWS 9:1-12 [1] Then verily THE FIRST COVENANT HAD ALSO, ORDINANCES of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.... [9] WHICH WAS A FIGURE for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;[10] WHICH STOOD ONLY IN MEATS AND DRINKS, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.[12] NEITHER BY THE BLOOD OF GOATS AND CALVES, BUT BY HIS OWN BLOOD he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

    HEBREWS 10:1-9
[1], FOR THE LAW HAVING A SHADOW OF GOOD THINGS TO COME, AND NOT THE VERY IMAGE OF THE THINGS, CAN NEVER WITH THOSE SACRIFICES which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
[2], For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
[3], But in those SACRIFICES there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
[4], For it is not possible that THE BLOOD OF BULLS AND GOATS should take away sins.
[5], Why when he comes into the world, he said, SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS YOU WOULD NOT BUT A BODY YOU HAVE PREPARED FOR ME:
[6], IN BURN'T OFFERINGS AND SACRIFICES FOR SIN YOU HAVE HAD NO PLEASURE.
[7], Then said I, See, I come in the VOLUME OF THE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN OF ME, to do your will, O God.
    [8], Above when he said, SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS AND BURNT OFFERINGS AND OFFERINGS FOR SIN YOU WOULD NOT, neither had pleasure therein; WHICH ARE OFFERED BY THE LAW;
[9], Then said he, See, I come to do your will, O God. He takes away the first, that he may establish the second.

NOTE; the LAW in reference here is NOT God's 10 Commandments but the law of sin offereings from the SHADOW laws of the MOSAIC BOOK of the LAW *DEUTERONOMY 31:24-26 from the OLD COVENANT *EXODUS 24:7 (Please look at the attached scriptures)

CONCLUSION: COL 2:16 is not in reference to God's 10 Commandments. They are in reference to the ceremonial laws in ORDINANCES connected to feast days and the annual sabbaths that are directly connected to feasts that can fall on any day of the week and not God's "SEVENTH DAY" weekly Sabbath that is outside of the JEWISH annual festivals that is a part of God's 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken *ROMANS 3:20

The GREEK word meaing and application of SABBATHS; SABBATH DAYS from COLOSSIANS 2:16 as shown in the CHAPTER CONTEXT and WITHIN SCRIPTURE CONTEXT is to the application of the GREEK word meaning to “ANY DAY OF REST OR REPOSE FROM SECULAR WORK” which is a reference to the HOLY CONVOCATIONS (calling out to public meetings) and the annual sabbaths in festivals that can fall on any day of the week.

Next lets look at there "speacial sabbaths connected to the feast days"?

    5. SABBATON (SABBATH DAYS) IN COLOSSIANS 2:16 WHAT IS IT POINTING TO?

    The CONTEXT of LEVITICUS 23 here are the appointed times of the ANNUAL FESTIVALS. These ANNUAL FESTIVALS are once a year events and includes days of HOLY CONVOCATION. A HOLY CONVOCATION in Hebrew means;

HOLY קדשׁ ; qôdesh From H6942; a sacred place or thing; rarely abstractly sanctity: - consecrated (thing), dedicated (thing), hallowed (thing), holiness, (X most) holy (X day, portion, thing), saint, sanctuary.

CONVOCATION מקרא; miqrâ'; From H7121; something called out, that is, a public meeting (the act, the persons, or the palce); also a rehearsal: - assembly, calling, convocation, reading.

So CONTEXT of LEVITICUS 23 is lising all the days of HOLY CONVOCATION for the ANNUAL FEASTIVALS. That are SACRED PUBLIC MEETINGS for the YEARLY FEAST DAYS.

God's 4th Commandments is a part of the ANNUAL FEAST days because many FEASTS were longer then 7 days or the FEASTS could start on any day depending on the YEARLY CYCLE.

This is different to the "special annual sabbath" that are connected directly to the feast days that could fall on any day of the week depending on the yearly cycle. So we are not discussing the same thing here.

God's 4th Commandment which is one of God's 10 commandment that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken *ROMANS 3:20. God's 4th commandment is not one of the "special" annual sabbaths strictly linked to the feastivals like those listed in LEVITICUS 23

These "special" sabbaths linked directly to certain festivals can fall on any day of the week and are only used in the annual Jewish festivals of

    1. Feasts of Trumpets (Lev 23:24) or
    2. Day of Atonement (Lev 23:32 or
    3. Feast of Booths (Lev 23:39)

Unlike God's 4th commandment SABBATH which is striclty every SEVENTH DAY of the week required outside of the feasts days and are a part of God's 10 Commandments.

SO dig deeper my brother. As you can see from all the scriptures above adding in the "CONTEXT you leave out COLOSSIANS 2 is not talking about God's 10 commandments but the SHADOW LAWS in ORDINANCES from the MOSIAC BOOK of the OLD COVENANT that pointed to JESUS and God's plan of salvation in the NEW COVENANT.

Receive God's WORD and be blessed.

Now you have been blessed by seeing that your claims and premises in regards to COLOSSIANS 2:16-17 have been shown to be FALSE from the scriptures in posts # 37-42 above, let's discuss the rest of your post...
    WRONG!

The NEW TESTAMENT Church met "EVERYDAY OF THE WEEK" and the FIRST DAY of the week is not "THE LORDS DAY" here is why...

ACTS 2:46-47 [46], And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, [47], Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

That does not make every day of the week a Holy day now does it or does it mean God's 4th commandment that is one of God's 10 commandments that gives us the knowledge of what sin is when broken has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day now does it?

The APOSTLE always upheld God's LAW and continued worshipping God according to his commandments and kept God's 4th commandment Sabbath well after the death and ressurection of JESUS * ACTS 13:14; 13:27; 13:44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4; Rev 1:10

Now brother as to your claims of "THE LORDS DAY" being "SUNDAY" or the "FIRST DAY" of the week from the reference of REVELATION 1:10 can you please find me the scripture that says "SUNDAY" or the "FIRST DAY" of the week is "THE LORDS DAY? You are confused here brother. God's WORD (not mine) says God's "SEVENTH DAY SABBATH" is "THE LORDS DAY" in MATTHEW 12:8. If you have no scripture for this man made teaching and tradition than who are you following; God or man? Only God's Word is true and you have none brother to support your claims here.

What biblical practice do you claim with your words that are not God's Word that I am rejecting? You have been shown from God's WORD not my words that it is you who is rejecting God's WORD in order to follow man made teachings and traditions that break the commandments of God not me despite direct warnings from JESUS in MATTHEW 15:3-9. Your claims to COLOSSIANS 2:16 have been shown to be in error so what else do you have? As to your false claims here about the works of the law? Let's get this one straight brother as your posting misinformation that has no truth in it. So you know what I believe let me tell you...

We are only saved only by GRACE through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God and not by works lest any man should boast *EPHESIANS 2:8-9. OBEDIENCE to God's Word is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD by faith. We are all sinners in need of a Saviour and God's salvation to save us from our sins. Salvation is from sin (breaking any one of God’s 10 Commandments). Salvation is not that of the false gospel of "ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED" that teaches we can to continue in sin and still receive God's salvation and his promises *ROMANS 6:1-23; JOHN 8:31-36; 1 JOHN 2:1-4; 1 JOHN 3:3-10. Those who continue in known unrepentant sin do not know God and need to be Born again into the NEW COVENANT promise to love *HEBREWS 8:10-12; ROMANS 13:8-10; JOHN 3:3-8; 1 JOHN 3:3-10. This is God's work in us and a part of the NEW COVENANT promise of a new heart to love *HEBREWS 8:10-12; PHILIPPIANS 2:13. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50 and if we sin willfully after we recieve a knowledge of the truth there remains no sacrifice for sin and a fearful looking forward to of the judgment to come *HEBREWS 10:26-39.
Sorry brother, let me stop you here. I am not anti-catholic, I love catholics and believe Gods has his people in every Church. I believe you all are my brothers and sisters and that God's people are in all churches living up to all the light that God has revealed to them. The hour is coming and now is however that God is calling his people wherever they may be OUT FROM FOLLOWING THE TEACHINGS AND TRADITIONS OF MEN back to the pure words of GOD alone. God is a Spirit and those who worship him must worship him in Spirit and in truth *JOHN 10:17; JOHN 4:23-24

May you receive God's WORD and be blessed.

That was quite a verbose response - but you have missed the ENTIRE point.

The changing of observance from the Sabbath to the Lord's Day has NOTHING to do with "abolishing" anything.
As Paul intimates in Col. 2:16-17 - it has to do with Christ's FULFILLING the Law. Christ Himself said:
    Matt. 5:17
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."

    WRONG.

The Bible refers to the First Day of the Week as the day Jesus rose from the Dead, which is Sunday (Matt. 28:1, Mark 16:1-2, Luke 24:1, John 20:1).
    STRIKE ONE . . .

The NT Church took up collections on the FIRST Day of every week (1 Cor. 16:1-2).
    STRIKE TWO . . .

As for your so-called dietary laws which have ZERO bearing on Christians - in Acts 10:9-16 we read about Peter's vision and the voice that told him:
“Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

This was the END of the dietary restrictions.

    STRIKE THREE - you're OUT.

Hello MarysSon, sooo I guess you have no scripture response to any of the posts shared with you brother that shows from the scriptures alone why you are in error? What is it in the post and scriptures provided to you that you disagree with? Why do you refuse not respond to the questions asked of you. Maybe it might help the conversation if I repeat the questions to you here and ask more questions to you in this post so you can let me see from God's Word why you believe I am in error. Now if I have only shared God's Word with you and it is God's Word and not my words why do you say it is wrong when it is God's Word not mine? Do you not believe God's Word brother?

Ok maybe it is best if we ask questions here and you can answer them if you can from God's Word. From the last posts I asked you there questions, can you answer them for me?

    1. Where is the scripture that says God's 4th Commandment has been "ABOLISHED" and we are now commanded to keep "SUNDAY" or the "FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK" as a HOLY DAY?

    2. Where is the scripture that says that "THE LORDS DAY" is SUNDAY or "THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK?

Lets continue our questions in the rest of your post here considering you seem to be ignoring the scriptures shared with you in the previous posts that are only sent in love and as a help to you that show you why you are in error...

Now brother there is no strike one. You did not read the posts addressed to you did youhich show why you are in error. As posted earlier The NEW TESTAMENT Church met "EVERYDAY OF THE WEEK" and the FIRST DAY of the week is not "THE LORDS DAY" here is why...

Now brother why would there need to be another strike when the first one was shown to be false and 1 CORINTHIANS 16:1-2 when adding the CONTEXT back in says that offereing were to be collected because PAUL WAS PASSING THROUGH ON HIS WAY TO JERUSALEM *1 CORITHIANS 16:3-4? The reason offerings were to be collected was that PAUL was only passing through to pick up the offering in order to take them to JERUSALEM.

Now that the context is added back in to show it does not say what you are claiming, let's look at the scriptures you provide here; Where in this scriptures in 1 CORINTHAINS 16:1-4 does it say God's 4th commandment has now been abolished and we are now commanded to keep "SUNDAY" or "THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK" as a Holy day?

Well no strikes so far and you still have no scripture to support your teaching and traditions that break the commandments of God and are not biblical? Does this not worry you brother? It should. JESUS says all those who knowingly follow man made teachings and traditions that break the commandments of God are not following God *MATTHEW 15:2-9. Now, if you have no scripture for your teaching and tradition who are you following; God or man? Someinth to pray about brother don't you think? Only God's Word is true and we should believe and follow it and you have provided none that support your teachings.

Let's deal with your last claim in the next post...

Ook we have seen from the above that you have 2/2 claim above that are not biblical. Let's examine your last claim here and see if there is any truth in it? Let's look at the entire passage to see if this passage is saying what you claim it says...

Let us start at the beginning of the Chapter and work ourselves down step by step. Since this is a verse by verse commentary, I have underlined the critical verses, if you want to get the facts, fast.

Acts 10:1 We know a few things about Cornelius. He was a Centurion of the Italian Regiment. He was posted in Caesarea, a place in Palestine. Mar 8:27, says that Yeshua Himself visited Ceasarea.

Acts 10:2 He was a godly man. He feared God with all his household, helped the poor and prayed constantly to God.

Acts 10:3 It says that he saw a vision about the 9th Hour. Later in verse 30, he confesses that he was fasting and praying at the 9th hour in his house. This was a separated time of prayer as seen in Acts 3:1. In this vision he saw, an Angel of God speaking to him.

Acts 10:4 And the Angel says that his “prayers” and the “compassion he had towards the poor” has reached God.

Acts 10:5,6 He is given direction to send men to Joppa(another place in palestine) to bring Simon Peter to him, so Peter could direct Cornelius as to what must be done.

Acts 10:7,8 When the Angel had left Cornelius, he called two servants and a god-fearing/devout soldier and told them what had happened and sent them to Joppa, as he was commanded.

Acts 10:9 While Cornelius’ men were approaching Joppa the next day, Peter went upstairs to pray around the 6th hour of the day.

Acts 10:10 It says Peter was very hungry, but the food was still being prepared. And he suddenly fell into a trance.

Acts 10:11,12,13 Peter saw the Heavens open up, and a great sheet with all kinds of animals let down to earth. And Peter heard a voice saying “Rise, Peter, Kill and Eat”.

Acts 10:14 Peter says “Not So, Lord”, meaning “may it not be”, I have “never” eaten anything which is unclean or common/unholy. This poses and interesting question. If, as some believe, Yeshua(Real name of Jesus) had taught the Disciples that all things are Clean, and everything can be eaten, why is Peter rejecting this “commandment” from heaven? So, it is safe to say, that Yeshua would have never taught any disciple to break God’s Food Laws.

Acts 10:15,16 Then the voice replies Peter saying, “What God has cleansed, do not call common/unholy”. This happens 3 times and the sheet was taken up back to Heaven. In this vision, did God revoke his food Laws and say God has cleansed all food, and not to call or segregate foods as clean and common/unholy or unclean? It is very clear. But, let us read on before jumping to any conclusions.

Acts 10:17 It says that Peter was unsure of what the vision meant. Why? it was so clear. God had told him to eat all things. But, Peter was not so sure what all of this meant. God had commanded not to eat unclean animals before, and now suddenly, He is asking Peter not to call Unclean animals Unclean! While all of these thoughts were in Peter’s mind, the men from Cornelius had reached the gate of the house where Peter stayed.

Acts 10:18,19,20 While the people asked for Peter, He was still thinking what the Vision meant, when the Holy Spirit spoke to him saying “3 men are looking for you, Arise, Go with them, without doubting anything, I have sent them”. Is this vision somehow connected with the arrival of the 3 men from Cornelius’ house? Let us read on.

Acts 10:21,22 Peter goes downstairs and declares that he is Peter and asks for what reason they are looking for him. They tell him that Cornelius, a Centurion, a God fearing just man, who is known by even the Jews with good report, saw an Angel asking him to send for Peter, to hear what he has to say.

Acts 10:23,24 Peter asked them to stay with them in Joppa, and left Joppa the next day with some of the other believers. The next day, they entered Ceasarea, and Cornelius was waiting for Peter in his house, and he had invited his friends and relatives as well.

Acts 10:25,26,27 As Peter was entering the house, Cornelius rushed to him, fell down, and worshiped him. But Peter “took him” up saying “Stand up, I am also just a man”. And then Peter entered the house to see many who had gathered.

Acts 10:28,29 Peter talks to the assembly, and says “You know, that it is unlawful for a Jew to keep company with, or visit foreigners”. Let’s stop here for a minute and study what Peter really meant, before we proceed. First of all, we should see that it was a known fact by all, that Jews did not keep company with foreigners. Otherwise, Peter would not start his speech by saying “You know”. We see this separation throughout the bible(John 4:9) So much so, that Jews did not even talk with non-Jews (John 4:27). They tried to even refrain from stepping into buildings that foreigners were in(John 18:28). Had God Almighty, instituted such a Law? God has always advised Israel not to go after the nations, and their ways, but never to not keep company with them or talk to them. in Deut 4:6-8, God even advised Israel to keep His Laws so Gentiles will see the good things of God and obey God. This law, of division between Jew and Gentile, like many other laws, were forced on Israel by their teachers and rulers, such as the Pharisees. (More about them in a future study). So, in short, It was a custom, or man made law, that no Jew could visit or keep company with a Gentile.

Now we finally get some solid answers to the questions we asked in Acts 10:15,16. Peter goes on to say, “but God has showed me that I should not call any man “common/unholy” or “unclean”. That is why I came promptly to you, as soon as I was asked to come”. It is very clear, by reading this admission, that Peter understood his vision the moment the 3 men asked him to come with them to Ceasarea. He understood that “God had showed” him the vision concerning not calling any man “Common/Unholy” and “Unclean”. Putting no difference between a person who knows God, and a person who is searching for God. Remember, ultimately, all are children of Noah, a child of God.

Peter goes onto ask why they asked him to come.

Acts 10:30-33 Cornelius explains what happened to him and tells Peter that they are present, to learn what God has commanded them to do.

Acts 10:34,35 Then Peter says that he “understands” that God does not respect any particular individual or nation, and that He has accepted all who “fear Him” and “does what is righteous”, in all nations.

Acts 10:36-43 Then Peter goes onto witness about Yeshua and preaches the Gospel to the people.

Acts 10:44-48 Then something fantastic happen. While Peter talks to the people, the Holy Spirit falls on the people. And some of the believers who were of the “Circumcision party”, who had come with Peter, were astonished. (We will check who “the Circumcision party” was, shortly). The Gentiles spoke in tongues, and magnified God. Then, Peter asked “Can anyone forbid these people who have received the Holy Spirit to get baptized? And Peter commanded them to get baptized in the name of the Lord. And he stayed with them for sometime.

Acts 11:1 The apostles and believers in Judea had heard that the gentiles received the Word of God.

Acts 11:2,3 When Peter came to Jerusalem, “those from the Circumcision” opposed Peter. Notice, that it was not the “Apostles” and “all the believers” who opposed him. It was only those of “the Circumcision”. Some think that “the Circumcision” is, all Jews. Not so. (Gal 2:12,13 showcases how Peter was scared of the Circumcision, and how the “other Jews”, who were not of “the Circumcision Party/Group” also followed him). They believed, as per the name which is used to call them, that you needed to be circumcised to be saved.

What was the accusation brought forward against Peter? That Peter went to “men who are not Circumcised” and ate with them.

Acts 11:4-15 To this, Peter replied by conveying the whole story which happened to him, not starting with the 3 men who came to Joppa, but starting with the vision he saw. He tells them the vision, and how as he was having the vision, the 3 men were looking for him at the house, and how 6 believers, present with him, went with him to Caesarea. How Cornelius had seen an Angel, and how the Holy Spirit fell, while he spoke.

Acts 11:16-18 Peter also says that he remembered what Yeshua said “John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit”. He told everyone, that God had given the Holy Spirit to the gentiles who believed in Yeshua, and asked them, who was he to withstand God. When “the Circumcision party/group” heard this, they kept quiet and glorified God, saying that God had granted repentance unto the gentiles as well.

    ............

    CONCLUSION
: as we have seen throughout this reading, the Vision was connected to the Gentiles and not regarding them as unholy or unclean. It could not have been about the food. If it was so, “The Circumcision Party” who accused Peter of eating with gentiles, would have ripped him to shreds for breaking “God’s Food Laws”. The key to understanding this misunderstood part of the Word, is Acts 10:28, where Peter said “God has showed me that I should not call ANY MAN “common” or “unclean”.

Sorry brother strike three your out.
Let me know when you want to discuss God's Word. Ignoring it does not make it dissappear.

May you receive God's Word and be blessed.

Hello brother Squire Robertson, nice to meet you here. It is not my point of view brother it is God's Word that I share here and this is the title of the OP which is about God's Word vs the teachings and traditions of men. Who are we following. It is a challenge thread for those who are honest and seek to follow God's Word at all cost to come out from following man made traditions that lead us away from God and His Word.

What the normal contention is as I share here is that many teach and believe God's 4th commandment has been "ABOLISHED" and we are now commanded to keep "SUNDAY" as a HOLY DAY or that "SUNDAY OR THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK" is "THE LORDS DAY" for which there is no scripture support and are only man made teachings and traditions that are not biblical.

It is these that I am calling attantion to. Where does it say in God's Word that God's 4th Commandment which is one of God's 10 Commandments that give us the knowldge of what sin is when broken *ROMANS 3:4 has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day? Where is the scripture that says SUNDAY is the LORDS DAY in REVELATION 1:10? There is no scripture and if there is no scripture who are we following here; God or man?

Thess are man made teaching and traditions that have been handed down to Christianity by the Roman Catholic Church. Many do this out of ignorance because they do not know any better but JESUS says all those who knowingly follow the teachings and traditions of men are not following God *MATTHEW 15:3-9.

Don't misunderstand me brother, I believe everyone here are my brothers and sisters and that God's people are in all churches living up to all the light that God has revealed to them. The hour is coming and now is however that God is calling his people wherever they may be OUT FROM FOLLOWING THE TEACHINGS AND TRADITIONS OF MEN back to the pure words of GOD alone. God is a Spirit and those who worship him must worship him in Spirit and in truth *JOHN 10:17; JOHN 4:23-24; REVELATION 18:1-5

I know I will be hated by many for sharing these things but it is my duty of love to both God and my fellow man and I must follow him who calls me in love to love another.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts

    God bless

It's not only this thread brother Squire, it is every thread our friend posts in. The condescending tone of this individual is beyond the pale and every one is wrong but him. Not only the people on this board, but every person down through the history of Christianity - from every Pope, every Eastern Orthodox Metropolitan, Martin Luther, John Smyth, Billy Graham, every theologian of every Christian denomination down through the ages - all are in the same boat, wrong except him.

Face it, we should all just be quiet and toe the line of his most spectacular thoughts and biblical declarations. Only he has the truth, a direct connection to God, an insight that none of us can never have. It is just he who can see through the lines of the words of Scripture and come out with the correct meanings.

We should be humbled and extremely thankful that he has taken the time to come to this board . He is here to instruct us, to guide us, and to lead us into all truth, don't you realize that?

So I proclaim to all, behold 3rd Angel - the greatest biblical scholar to ever walk the face of the earth!

That passage refers to the specific sin of not trusting in Jesus to save you, that His death was not sufficient, as they turned back to keeping the sacrifices and the temple service, which denied the suffiency of the Cross. Today, would be adding anything to Jesus to save you, such as water baptism, keeping Sabbath, diet laws etc!

Let me just ask you some simple questions brother.

Where is the scripture that says God's 4th commandment has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day?

Where is the scripture that says Sunday is "THE LORDS DAY"?

If there is no scripture for these teachings who are we believing and following, God or man?

Actually no it does't it is talking about all sin that we commit "WILLFULLY and "KNOWINGLY once we have been given a "KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH"

HEBREWS 10:26-27 [26], For IF WE (BELIEVERS) sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, [27], But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

According to God's WORD (not mine) SIN is the breaking of anyone of God's 10 commandments *JAMES 2:10-11; 1 JOHN 3:4 of which God's 4th Commandment is one of God's 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4

You misunderstand Hebrews very badly, as that book teaches eternal security, and that we are saved by Grace alone thru faith alone!

Yet here you are still speaking your own words that deny Gods not being able to respond to the scriptures shared with you? Only God's WORD is true my dear brother and we should believe and follow it over the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God *MATTHEW 15:3-9; ROMANS 3:4; 1 JOHN 2:3-4

After reading your verbose rants – it is blindingly clear that you try to find things in Scripture that simply aren’t there - just to suit your invented doctrines. Much of this is very clear.

This is not rocket science – much of this is very clear. The Lord’s Day that is referred to in the NT is the day of the Lord’s RESURRECTION. The “First day” of the week is Sunday. The Sabbath is the SEVENTH day.

You purposely make riddles of all of this because the normal, clear understanding destroys your position. You must do all kinds of verbose Scriptural acrobatics to arrive at your erroneous positions that are FAR out of line with the rest of Christendom.

Finally – you keep dishonestly claiming that I am saying that Christ “abolished” a Commandment – even after I repeatedly told you that He FULFILLED the shadows that YOU still cling to as “necessary” . . .

You are following the traditions of men and not heeding what the scriptures really are teaching!

This gent is a 7TH DAY ADVENTIST, member of a cult that places the writings of its Big Kahoona Mrs. Ellen G. White on an equal footing with Scripture & follows HER twisted, false private interps of Scripture over what they REALLY mean. I only counter his garbage in hopes of keeping new members here from falling for it. It'll take the HOLY SPIRIT'S power to get that gent outta his rut.

Yes, he believes only the word of God...as interpreted by MRS. WHITE !
