So the "unalienable right" of life mentioned in the Declaration of Independence is invalid?

The Declaration is not a part of the U.S. Constitution.

KH, here you go again. You post multiple threads touting the Libertarian Party, advocate supporting it, even joining it as you did forty years ago. Then you turn around and say you don’t trust any party.

If that’s true, then put your money where your mouth is by getting out of the Libertarian Party and quit advocating for it. As it stands now, your stance sounds as duplicitous as the Lib Party.

Following this line of reasoning, Libertarians must believe the federal government should repeal all laws against homicide as unconstitutional.

The church is also composed of fallen humans. Are you a part of the church. Do you advocate quitting it?

You keep straying further and further from the point. The Lib Party is much like the Dem party regarding immorality, effectively promoting it, defending it, giving it ever greater dominance in society. You may not be able to admit this, but such is the reality.

The Lib Party is no solution for any of society’s ills, as it hasn’t the moral discernment, much less the moral fortitude, to oppose what is wrong and establish and defend what is right.

You are confusing the role of the church and the family with that of government.

Most homicide cases are handled below the federal level.

Conservatives and liberals try to cram all kinds of the stuff into the 14th Amendment - right to privacy(pro- choice), right to same-sex marriage, right to life(anti-choice). I don’t buy either side’s arguments. Both sides are just trying to cram their own preferences into it because they see it as a shortcut to not having to work state by state.

It guarantees protection of all civil rights. Is life a civil right?

The 14th amendment was to stop the states from denying citizenship to the recently freed slaves. It had nothing to do with privacy, abortion, or same-sex marriage.

The original purpose was to prevent the states from denying citizenship to the newly freed slaves. That is all. Once you start adding to it is how you end up with same-sex marriage being legalized nationwide in one fell swoop.

For citizens and other persons under the jurisdiction of the states, unless they are deprived of it by due process of law.

Nope, you’ve got it backward, inside out, upside down, and all around confused. The church and family don’t make the laws, execute those laws, or judge by those laws—government does. And the Lib Party apparently opposes any church or family that would influence any of that, yet wants to be directly involved in affecting everyone, ultimately removing all protections for those churches and families, though they won’t know they’ve done that, because they cannot discern right from wrong, good from bad, truth from fiction. Again, the Lib Party is a study in contradictions—a group that opposes groups—or its duplicity is showing.

You want a more expansive federal government than I do.
