Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

That is a strange question coming from a preacher, n'est-ce pas? Why does a preacher ask such a question?

How nice. I am called upon by clergy to retract on behalf of the cults. It should be the clergy not the laity denouncing sin.

The overt ones like denial of the trinity and covert ones like the latest versions of listening for the “voice” or the “spirit” instead of the study of the scriptures

Another cult of yesteryear. I always have to look up the details on him but I did not start a thread from one of his adherents.

Good question. The leaders of cults get money and/or sex as rewards so if a cult is active there usually is a struggle for leadership at the death of the founder.

Here is a link on Watchman Nee:

He's not asking you to "retract" anything. Salty is asking you for clarification on your statement. His definition of "demonic cult" may not match yours.

OK. UPC is an offshoot of the Assembly of God about 100 years ago, as you know. They have always been called a cult. They have been segregated internally. The white division is mostly called "Jesus Only" by the public while the black division is called apostolic I think. They resemble the Jehovah's Witnesses in that the UPC believes only in Jesus while the JWs believe only in Jehovah.

The UPC speaks in tongues. We know that these tongues are demonic because the UPC has another Jesus.

Why are they demonic? All cults preach a false gospel that leads souls to hell. Their doctrine may have been contrived by men in Hazelwood, MO, but they belong to the kingdom of darkness, the epitome of demonism. I cannot be alarmed that a court ruled against them. The SBC has a powerful political lobby in DC--let them spend millions to retry the case or pass new law.

    Interesting.

There is much truth in the accusation of demonized tongue talkers. That is obvious.

The UPC wages aggressive cultural war against Fundamentalist & Evangelicals. They are like the LGBT in that respect. I think the kingdom of the cults is in the lap of Satan but the SBC is not noted for much work in that area. The North American Mission Board in Georgia has an Apologetics Department that has published some good work at the SBC but they are not as vigorous and active as they should be in defending against the kingdom of the cults. With the confused Greear as President of the SBC for another year, look for more drifting away from the shore. Pray that God sends the SBC a wise leader.

I remember when a SBC seminary offered a very much needed course on cults some 20 years ago. The course was canceled when only two students registered for it.

Exactly how do they do this? z

Makes me think - many years ago (too many!) I was youth director of ZBC, One week, I assigned a pair of kids to different religions - Their homework was to study up on it, and then in the following weeks, of the pair of kids - one would "witness" to the other. I had them learn about the other religious so they could be a more effective witness. - On a Sunday night during service - the music director mentioned when he walked thur our classroom (which was the hallway) he saw the kids witnessing to each other. He told the church how that was a blessing to him!

I just sent an email to one of the teens was in my youth group.
He is now a retired SBC pastor and currently is a
