I went looking for any news on President Trump in relation to how evangelicals perceive him right now. I found a couple of news stories of interest.

This article shows that President Trump is slipping among white Christians in the polls. The damage is an 11% - 18% slide, depending on group.
    https://www.newsweek.com/trumps-fav...uble-digits-particularly-counties-hit-1501609

This is an interesting think tank report on attitudes towards President Trump among Americans, particularly religious and Evangelical Americans. It's worth skimming the graphs and tables IMO to see why support for the President may be slipping among self-identified Christians.
Americans' Views on Trump, Religion and Politics

First, let me say that the purpose of this post is to educate.

I also hope to get prayers for our President, especially for wisdom and other gifts from God like sterling character. I pray for him on a regular basis along with other world leaders. It is shocking to see my prayers for him go kind of unanswered. Currently, I intend to vote for President Trump over the issue of abortion, though I am not an enthusiastic supporter.

I'll leave it to you guys and gals to interpret why this is happening and how he can shore up support. A drop of say 13% among white evangelicals in areas hard hit by Coronavirus may not sound like much, but in an election year, his base will need to show up enthusiastically to win.

Both Hillary and Biden probably rank higher on the morality issue. Another thing that hurts Trump is his failure to figure out how to build more of the wall than he did. And now he is faced with a very bad economy due to extending the lockdown way past flattening the curve. And then there is the problem of institutional racism. As Biden said, you're not black unless you vote Democrat. Finally, the number of white evangelicals may be declining. Is there any research on that?

Also, we may be on the verge of a conventional war with Red China. Xi Jinping is destroying Hong Kong and has moved masses of troops to the border with India. He may attack Taiwan. He has taken some islands belonging to the Philippines and may threaten Japan from North Korea, not to mention South Korea. China wants to rule the world and wants living space. Are they using the German word for living space?

And then there is Islam which launched an increased number of attacks during this year's holy month of Ramadan. Islam, too, wants to rule the world and is attacking the West.

Is Trump tough enough to defeat our enemies? Rich white women will decide the election and they lean Democrat.

You need to listen to Rush. He explains polls very well.

The purpose of these polls was to tell Christians that they should stop supporting Trump. They provide no useful information.

No sure how anyone advocating for the murder of children would even rank on a morality scale? The godless left burns churches, suppresses biblical teaching in schools and misrepresents truth, so anyone professing Christ and voting Democrat is voting against interest.

Ah, rich white women in the suburbs do not care about abortion or Christianity. They are materialists and they do not like anyone who rocks the boat.

The Newsweek poll is probably trash as Newsweek is all but out of business. As for Pew, I am not sure how reliable they are anymore. Biden has been given the mantle of Obama and no one can say anything about Obama without being guilty of institutionalized racism. Biden may be a pervert but that is better than having been a playboy like Trump who is now married to one of the most beautiful women in the world, which does not appeal to the Karens of America, n'est-ce pas?

That is a good point on how the Dems can be seen as more moral. My most important issue is abortion though. Then again, I didn't see proof that the Dems were loved in this poll.

Still as evil as the Dem positions are, it seems like they have better PR.

If you go looking for information to inform yourself.........& you come up with a Newsweek article.......run the other way, save yourself, you can do it. You like Clint Eastwood? Here’s what he has to say:

    From Clint Eastwood:
“I love when people call Trump Stupid..
You mean the multi-billionaire who kicked every Democrats butt, buried 16 career Republican politicians, and continues to make fools out of once reputable news organizations ..
You mean the guy who won the presidency?
You mean the guy with the super model wife?
You mean the guy whose words alone put a massive slow down on illegal border crossings?
You mean the guy whose mere presence made the stock market smash its previous records?
You mean the guy who created 1 million jobs in his first 7 months in office?
Are you sure you even know what it is you’re resisting?
Are you sure you back a party that enables the decimation of every core principal of Christianity?
Are you sure you back a party that voted 100% against the abolition of slavery?
Are you sure you really take a politician like Maxine Waters seriously?
Are you sure you don’t see anything wrong with someone who has a 40 yr career as a public servant living in a $4.5 mansion representing a district she doesn’t even live in?
Are you sure you see nothing wrong or peculiar about Hillary Clinton a woman being involved in politics for the last 30 yrs having a net worth of $240 million?
Are you sure you’re not just basing your opinion on hatred spewed by a crooked paid for media platform?
Could you even tell me 5 things the Democratic Party has done to improve you’re day to day prosperity as a hard working American citizen?
    Probably not..
Do you realize the debacle you are sending your children into once they become adults by continuing to support a political party that has done nothing for the poor except kept them poor, gave them free abortions, and a few hundred a month to keep food in their fridge?
The prosperity and safety of its citizens is job one of your government.
    Get with the program.
Everyone else has horribly failed you!
Smarten up and take a position for the sake of your children.
I promise you a country full of illegal immigrants, abortions, $15 an hour jobs, and non-gender specific people aren’t gonna make your country and life any more prosperous.
Rosie, Madonna, Katy Perry, and Robert Deniro are not just like you. They don’t have to live through the real world day to day disparity of an average American.
Men don’t hate women, white people don’t hate black people, and Donald Trump is not a racist.
Stop allowing yourself to be brainwashed by a party that has continuously failed you.
Be about your prosperity, your safety, your children, and an America First mindset.
Dump these crooked politicians that have stunted your growth.
Dump these crooked politicians that have stunted your children’s growth.
Toughen up, take a stand, and act like a proud American.
See the spirit of Trump supporting and freedom loving Americans and just imagine where we could be as a country if everyone had the same priorities”

Polls are not to be believed. By asking the "right" set of questions, a predetermined outcome will result.

    For example:
    1) Did the economy tank during Mr. Trump's term?
    2) Did more than 100,000 die in Mr. Trump's term due to Covid 19:
    3) Should Mr. Trump's many failures be rewarded?

Result, Mr. Trump is viewed as weak on the economy, weak on public health issues, and not deserving of a second term.

Dems do have better PR. It is advisable for the GOP to always say that they are in an uphill battle and they are the underdog because they are climbing up the rough side of the mountain and they are far behind the Democrats, who still own the plantations.

I'll be bluntly honest. I don't like my choices in November. On one side you have a creep, that I would want to deck if he smelled the hair of a woman I know. He supports a panoply of anti-Christian ideas and is for both immorality and the murder of defenseless children. Joe Biden the "moderate" is a sign of how evil the Dems have become.

On the other side, we have a man in President Trump that while shrewd on the economy and politically savvy, seems out for himself mainly. I have no illusions that our President is a virtuous man seeking the good of others first. I have no belief he is a strong evangelical Christian trying to bring people to the truth of right, wrong, and salvation through Jesus Christ. He at least wants evangelical votes and will deliver on things like abortion, for that I praise our President and will vote for him.

Nevertheless, as of 2023 we as evangelicals need to band together in the primaries and put up a candidate able to call a nation back from the brink of God's wrath.

I don't think that Evangelicals get along with each other any more. Like the rest of the country, the Evangelical denominations are being swept by cultural marxism or social justice and no one knows who will win. The SBC is stagnant and even Fundamentalism is being tried. It was only recently that the last of the Dixiecrats was forced out in Louisiana when Mary Landau lost her race. It hasn't been too long since KKK leader Robert Byrd controlled the US Senate. The GOP has not won the popular vote for the White House since 1988 I think. Democrats don't care if Biden swam naked in front of female staffers when he was vice-president or if he touches little girls. He does not make bad news to disturb rich white women in upper-middle class suburbs.

The Dems do have MSNBC, NBC, CBS, and CNN in their pockets. ABC is the only remotely objective third party news now. FOX supports conservatives, obviously.

I agree the presidency is an uphill battle for Reps. I think state wise, Reps have the advantage. At least "Fly over country" gets two senators for each state and has to deal with more local issues putting the better equipped Reps in control. Reps need the House, that they lost it despite gerrymandering is a huge issue.

Biden may win, but he will never get a liberal agenda through except liberal judged if Reps have Congress. Still, I think President Trump can win, I hope he does to put the final nail in Roe's coffin.

True, evangelical stands for crazy hyper-hyper-Charismatics, a divided SBC, and my own IFB. Very sobering insights. brother.

You know, of course, that Eastwood didn't say that. It was New Hampshire state Rep. Fred Doucette. Not exactly Eastwood.

Many evangelicals today care more about "looking right" and "feeling right", than actually believing and doing what's right according to God. I can barely talk to a single evangelical below 30, because they don't believe God's word is fully authoritative for life today. Most are in public schools their entire life being taught whatever the culture deems as right. And then there are many Christian universities teaching truth as "relative" or "gray" (aka, post modernism), and it confuses people into a lifeless, lawless, and philosophical form of religion. From that a person gloms onto whatever cultural movement or wave of thought is popular to feel good about themselves, and you get your modern liberal evangelical.

I don't want to get too off topic. As a Millennial and a former liberal Evangelical before coming to salvation. The problem you describe is so true.

Well, it was off of Eastwood’s FB page. Now I don’t do FB, but maybe you could provide the details on that. If it’s on his page, maybe he wants folks to read it, heh?
