What is so important about Dr. Pickering's translation is its underlying Greek text and his translation notes.
It can be bought, or down loaded for free and is freely availble for MySword Android Bible app as WPNT.

WPNT John 3:16 - 16 Because God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes into Him should not be wasted but should have eternal life.

Not sure of the "importance" of such a rendering?

At least the CSB renders ούτως correctly while Pickering does not. While I don't object to "only begotten", I hardly think "wasted" to be a good rendering of αποληται.

    John 3:16 CSB
“For God loved the world in this way:[ He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Not only does the CSB render hoytos correctly, ditto for monogenes and apollymi.

As far as liking a rendering, how about God loved mankind in this way: He gave His one of a kind Son, so that everyone believing into Him will not perish, but have eternal life. :)

On and on Y1 posts falsehoods, as the use of begotten denies Logos is eternal. Next, Y1 will claim begotten means not begotten. On and on folks, on and on.

Yet another falsehood from the fount of falsehoods. This begotten means not begotten nonsense is all he has to hide truth.
False teachers redefine words to alter the text, thus begotten (meaning to cause to exist) now is said to mean "not to cause to exist." Hogwash

You have got to be kidding, you have no idea what the word means. Try a dictionary or lexicon. Begotten never ever mean not begotten. Full Stop

Begotten of God refers to Jesus as being only eternal One of the Father!
Read biblical meaning, not JW one into term!

What a falsehood! Did he provide a dictionary reference? Nope. How about a Lexicon? Nope
He just makes it up folks, and posts falsehoods with impunity.
Begotten means "cause to exist" and the Second Person of the Trinity always existed. Full Stop.

Jesus is not the "only begotten" Son of God, He is the unique or one of a kind Son. Full Stop

Those that perpetuate mistranslations to create confusions hinder the ministry of Christ. Full Stop

What does 'only begotten Son' mean? How is Jesus God's only begotten Son?

He only asks questions to create confusion. Here he quotes a mistranslation as if he does not know modern scholarship has determined that translation choice is as bogus as a three dollar bill.

How does the NIV read at John 3:16
How does the ESV read at John 3:16
How does the NET read at John 3:16
How does the LEB read at John 3:16
How does the CSB read at John 3:16

He perpetuates the KJV mistranslation simply to create confusion and waste thread after thread.

You do not understand. And you will not hear what you do not want to hear. Dr Pickering follows tradition translating μονογενής.

So Isaac also an eternal one since he is also called μονογενής (monogenes)? - Hebrews 11:17

He isn't even Abraham's "only" son.

Or is Issac just "unique" / "one of a kind"?

BDAG s.v. μονογενης (2): "an only-begotten one, God (acc. to his real being; I.e. uniquely divine as God's son.... a uniquely begotten deity.... Some... prefer to regard μ. as somewhat heightened in mng. in J and 1J to only-begotten or begotten of the Only One, in view of the emphasis on γεννασθσι εκ Θεού (J 1:13 al.); in this case it would be analogous to πρωτοτοκος"

So it appears that either rendering is acceptable, and no need to argue over it.
