Taxes on gasoline pay for road construction. Only people with cars have to pay gasoline taxes. How will road construction be paid for with electricity? Will everyone with an electric meter have to pay to build roads?

Will China blackmail the world for minerals? Of course.

You know what, perhaps government will require you to report your road mileage from your odometer. Or they can conceal RFID spy chips embedded in the car, and as you drive scanners will report back to them all sorts of private information about the car, speeds, mileages, locations, weights, perhaps where you have been, you can be tracked with a gps chip in the car storing all of everywhere you have gone and when. Maybe they can figure out who is in the car. Also whether the car is current on state inspections, and taxes, how many miles are on the tires, just about any measurable condition. I imagine someday there could even be cameras hidden in cars looping video which will be downloaded by national security agencies and police. Data storage capability is growing so fast. and wireless speeds too.

Is the "damage to the environment" a fiction of those trying to hinder progress?

According to the CR article the total cost of ownership for a BEV is less than for a gasoline vehicle.

Yes, funding for road construction and maintenance will shift to we know not what. Vehicle miles is one guess.
Many stories have been floated claiming we cannot make enough batteries from available materials. Again, are these fictions of the anti BEV lobby, or actual?

They will add a "gasoline" tax to the electric cars each year at registration renewal.

I'm at the point with science that I am with the dems; you may tell me something I didn't know, BUT you won't tell me anything that surprises me!!

Lunar rock has water in it, throwing old earthers for a loss.

I am a young earth creationist myself. We should all take God at His word, there is no judgement from Him in doing so, it is what He wanted written down for our instruction, as all scripture is inspired by God, so not of man thinking of God then.

Yeah, well, the link had something about the moon being formed from molten rock, which means any water would have evaporated. Old earthers are mostly neither scientific nor Scriptural.

To atheistic sciences, everything is a sort of structured randomness of events. But they lose their way in their understanding of the universe's end and restart as an endless cycle, or it just happened to start as a big bang and will expand forever purposelessly.

No one has ever visited another planet around another star and never will. Some have said this universe is a simulation, and they may be onto something. It may be like a set in a movie that appears to be one way when actually is just a simulation and the true reality exists behind the scenes. There is no certainty the stars are what science says of them, Genesis says they are lights in the sky and were created after the earth was made. And Jesus says the stars will fall from the sky, Revelation says the stars will fall to the earth. So reality is either warping into something else or they never were stars millions of times each bigger than the globe of the earth. I prefer to believe stars are part of the heavenly host arrayed by God in perfect order, in fact the book of Enoch says that very thing. They are the host of heaven, have individual purpose and are angelic manifestations.

And the stars sing, now that implies sentience and understanding, not just humongous balls of celestial gasses coalesced into a fiery orb having no life in themselves.

Notice the earth is created first, then the stars as lights in the sky, and here these lights sing for joy after the earth's creation
Sons of God in Job refers to the angels.
And the earth has foundations, meaning it is fixed in place. And the earth's foundations are fixed to something else, perhaps the great deep, which is under the earth and from which the waters of the flood came up upon the earth.

We filter the bible through the teaching of an atheistic antichrist science and expect to gain understanding?

    Job 38
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
2 “Who is this who darkens counsel
    By words without knowledge?
    3 Now prepare yourself like a man;
I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
4 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.
    5 Who determined its measurements?
    Surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 To what were its foundations fastened?
    Or who laid its cornerstone,
7 When the morning stars sang together,
And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

As far as China blackmailing the world for the minerals needed for batteries, more ignorance on display. The critical mineral is lithium. Lithium is found primarily in South America, Australia, USA, and Mexico.

There are many lithium mining companies like Lithium America, Ablemarle Corp., Piedmont Lithium, Westwater Resources, etc. Most of these stocks are booming. I own stock in Lithium America, LAC, and it has skyrocketed.

Getting the raw materials for EV batteries is not a problem. We're not going to have to wait to mine the moon to make electric vehicles.

As far as letting the market decide, oh, it is deciding, big time. Just look at Tesla stock. Look at Tesla's number of vehicles delivered each of the past several quarters. They delivered 139,000 vehicles worldwide last quarter. They are projected to build 250,000 of their vehicles annually in China next year just for the Chinese market, built in their newly constructed factory in Shanghai.

Just eighteen months ago Tesla stock was in the $300 range, whereupon it rose to over $2,200 just six weeks ago before a 5-1 split reset the stock price to the $400 range. (I own a small portion of Tesla.)

Nio has been called the "Chinese Tesla". They are about two years behind Tesla in delivery of vehicles. I bought some Nio stock back in March, just seven months ago. I bought Nio because I had missed the Tesla bandwagon and at the time Tesla stock was over $800 per share. J.P. Morgan just raised the target price of Nio stock to $40 a share today and the stock is on fire. I'm pretty happy with my investment.

People who object to electric cars and try to find reasons why they will not replace gas powered cars remind me of Luddites.

I had to look up Luddites. but ITL reference was spot on.
Think of all the people in the gasoline business, in the infernal combustion engine repair business, and all the supporting business like Autozone. Electric Cars will not need perhaps a third of the stuff on their shelves. No gas cans, no fuel additives, no oil filters, and on and on...

GM now (after the Biden election) says it is going all electric by 2035.

I am hoping Ford brings out a Thunderbird powered by electricity, the Thunder-Mach E. Much better than the Bird-E. :)

We will know when the big boys bring out an inexpensive all electric convertible.

So far Toyota has refused to make a 300 mile range EV.

Good news for you! Google says 1 % of all car searches are for electric cars!

Gee, I though the Tesla is the number 1 most searched make on Google. In fact about 20% of all searches for the top 10 makes are for the Tesla. But on the other hand, less than 3% of all new cars sold in America are electrics. But half of those are sold in California, and in Orange County, the Tesla's are everywhere.

With Biden throwing people out of work, electric cars will remain the toys of the rich.

Yes, I agree, and the tax payers will partly fund those toys. But that does not mean real competition might not bring about lower prices. BEV's with 300 mile plus range are practical for everyday driving.
