Is Mohler playing both sides against the middle?

A trustee on the board of directors in Louisville. I think he is a preacher.

The fix is in for Mohler to succeed Greear (was supposed to this year but Annual Meeting was cancelled):

Baptist Press October 28, 2020 Mohler for SBC President

"R. Albert Mohler Jr. said he has agreed to accept a nomination to serve as SBC president...[from] H.B. Charles, senior pastor of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla. Almost a year ago, Charles announced his intention to nominate Mohler for president at the 2020 Annual Meeting, which was canceled in response to the COVID-19 pandemic."

"'It’s basically just a year’s delay', Mohler said"

[The SBC President makes a number of appointments that can influence the direction of all seminaries and SBC enities for years to come]

Thanks for the link. I don’t know what to think of Mohler as I really don’t know what his theology is. It does seem that he fired some professors at will and does owe them some money, but in Indiana you can fire at will so that doesn’t bother me too much. He does seem to tolerate too much liberal thought on race and homosexuality.

I saw him on former Australian Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson (which I posted here), but I disagreed on his long history of modern politics and was surprised at the time he spent on talking politics. I don’t know why he publicly endorsed Trump. What was the need for him to do that?

As intellectual as Mohler is, I am not sure it is that he is arrogant so much as indifferent. He may just be tired. Louisville is pretty along the riverfront and the Ohio River is very large there. I guess it badly flooded long ago. I like Louisville and Cincinnati but I like Indianapolis better. I lived on the Ohio River in southern Indiana for a year. Too humid.

How should I classify Mohler’s theology and why don’t I know what it is?

He self identifies as a 'Reformed theologian':

    AlbertMohler.com

Mohler: "As a Reformed theologian I would look at this and say..."

Wow, I don’t see how he can be both woke and reformed and I don’t see why he ever endorsed Trump?

Far beyond what was necessary to secure his base??? Kinda left-handed compliment. I don’t see that Mohler could lead the SBC back to conservatism because he hasn’t shown any conservatism himself by refusing to pay off the fired professors but his toying with social justice is ill-advised. I don’t get any Louisville news anymore. Years ago the Courier Journal was sold downtown Indianapolis and it was a superb newspaper. I think it hurts Mohler that he devotes so much attention to politics. As an intellectual, he should know that politics is a dead-end for him and for the SBC. Yes, issues such as protecting human life; no, on selecting candidates all the time. Now Mohler looks bad for endorsing a loser who he did not like personally for character reasons. Is my personal opinion.

Doesn't seem left-handed to me. It is a matter of practical politics that many politicians do not do too much, just enough to keep their voters voting for them. This indicates Trump is not a politician testing the wind.

I have followed Albert Mohler for several years - I do remember a couple of times that he claimed NOT to be calvinist but Augustinian.

I agree that a great deal of time has passed without any explanation about why the conditions exists, especially, at SBTS and SETS concerning CRT/I.

Much has been said that questions Mohler's integrity. For there to be an integrity problem, you must put aside his 25 year history at SBTS, his published works - You can see from his writings and sermons exactly where he stands.

If you look closely and follow the public timeline of comments made by Mohler, I think you can see that there is some process that is taking place, but it is undefined. I would encourage you to read the article below that was reported in the Christian Index.

Caldwell to EC members: Be clear where you stand

I believe this to be a part of the picture of the process taking place in the SBC, to include the SBTS and SEBTS concerning CRT/I. There are some number of "WOKE" and "WOKE sympathetic" churches in the SBC to include Capital Hill Baptist and McLean Baptist, both in the Washington DC area. It appears that something must be worked out with those churches and other churches and individuals that are "WOKE" and/or "WOKE sympathetic" before the SBC can move forward on CRT/I issues. If you will think seriously about it, this will be a huge leadership challenge - even for Mohler. It seems that SEBTS is following the same process as SBTS on CRT/I
