Will there be a literal 1000-year period in the future when Christ will rule on the earth with a rod of iron from Jerusalem?

    From Moody's Handbook of Theology:

Amillennialism - "The teaching that there will be no literal millennium following Christ's return to the earth."

Postmillennialism - "Popular in the nineteenth century, this view holds that the world will become progressively better with the ultimate triumph of the gospel. Christ will return after the millennium."

Dispensational Premillennialism - "The church will be raptured before the Tribulation when God will again focus on Israel in His plan for the world. Christ will return at the end of the Tribulation to rescue Israel and establish the Millennium."

Historic Premillennialism - "Generally postribulational . . . Israel and the church are not seen as completely distinct at all times. The millennial kingdom is not restricted to a thousand years. It began in heaven at the first coming of Christ and continues at the second coming of Christ."

1000 years ... beyond that, all of the details are in God's hands and I look forward to being surprised with how they unfold. I just have to keep a "go-bag" packed and keep working until he calls and says "time to go".

One way or another, I plan to attend the rapture [1 Thessalonians 4:13-18].

I generally believe the amil position. The 1000 years is symbolic, like so much of Revelation. Remember, Christ rules forever. The 1000 years is a reference to the “co-reign” of the saints with Christ.

Once Christ returns, the saints are gathered and this world is done. The only thing left is the judgment.

    peace to you

So how does one objectively decide what is symbolic in Revelation and what is not?

Actually, God has already revealed a lot of details to us about that period--it is going to be a glorious time!

It would be good to know what position about the millennium whoever has chosen "other" actually holds.

Apocalyptic literature is, by its nature, symbolic. Combine that with the truth that heaven is unlike anything we can experience on this side, God condescends using language we can understand.

    peace to you

This does not answer my question. If you hold that it is symbolic, how much of it is symbolic and how do you know objectively what is symbolic and what is not?

I didn't answer the survey. Amillennialism is a misnomer, as are the other nomenclature, revealing the Darbyist leanings of the ones who coined them.

Understanding the symbolism employed in Revelation is no assertion of 'no millennium' anymore than one's understanding of the symbolism employed in Leviticus no assertion there is no Christ.

Baptist-teaching church assemblies have existed throughout the Church Age Millennium ( The Inter-Advental Period of a seemingly endless period of time that nonetheless has a Termination, i.e., The End of Time and The World, with The Second Coming of Jesus.)

This is the Period of Time referred to, in Revelation 20, and is the context of each of The Seven Visions in Revelation, which each reencapsulate the information contained in The First Vision, with each progressive Vision covering subject matter within The Exact Same Time from Jesus Ascension, to His One and Only Return.

i'M SURE IT IS, AMOUNG nOVICES IN tHE eND tIMES tEACHING OF sCRIPTURE, BUT EACH PORTION OF sCRIPTURE SUBSTAINATES IT, LIKE A HAND IN A GLOVE.

    SORRY CAPS.

nOT BEING SAVVY TO THE sEVEN sECTIONS OF Revelation would indicate a reader might assume to chronologically follow the chapters of Revelation, one after another.

That will lead and has to crazier than a jujube bean made up silliness.

Let's save a lot of time by recognizing that you are not going to convince me that what you believe is true and vice versa. How about starting another thread where you set forth your views and discuss them with people who are interested in discussing them?

According to any number of Novices in The End Times.

The OP is the perfect example.

    The survey is another.

There is one way to interpret each Bible Scripture. Not 14.

How about I responded to the OP.

How about you read The Bible.

It's the only thing in there.

Leave 'writing and 'reading into' to the Devil.

Yeah, you better be scared of them.

They would lead to Preaching The Return of Jesus is Imminent.

    There is no second chance.

    Thanks, Twitter.

OK... Since I am the one that chose other I will tell you... I agree with Iconoclast that the Kingdom has already started... I also agree with canadyjd, that holds to the Amil view that Apocalyptic literature of the OT and the NT is symbolic... I grew up in a church that NEVER taught a rapture or a millennium reign... When I came here many years ago, I wondered why as they taught something here, I NEVER heard... So I looked for the source and I found it... If you want to follow the writing of two Roman Catholic Jesuit Priest (Manuel De Lucunza and Francisco Ribera) in the 1500's you are free to do that, Darby did it and sold you all a bill of goods... When the Lord comes again according to scripture the world will be burned up and the saints of God will be resurrected and go home to be with the Lord in Heaven.

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Btw... You can look it up for yourself, just like I did and be delivered by what I have coined Protestant Purgatory!... Brother Glen:)
