Seems a big topic nowadays, especially for "Progressives" (Communists) is climate change/global warming.

I believe it's an "act of God", same as global warming/cooling of the past. If man was gonna cause global warming, it woulda been in nthe hundred years between 1845 & 1945, when prodigious amounts of fossil fuels & wood were burned for uses ranging from home heating to steelmaking. There are still some old buildings & trees in England blackened from coal soot. During both World Wars, massive amounts of air pollution were released from gunpowder explosions of all types, as well as from huge fires caused by bombilg & artillery. In WW2, a bomber often burned 5000 to 8000 gallons of fuel on one mission, with many millions averaging 300 or more aircraft-not mto mention petroleum-based fuels used by other military vehicles and ships. But yet, much of Europe saw severe winters in 1944 & 45 when the effects of all that air pollution shoulda been at their worst!

I believe that global warming is part of God's plan for the end times & will contribute to the "great trib" that'll hit the whole world, as Jesus' return approaches. I don't believe man can do a thing about it.

    What are YOUR opinions?????????????????????????????

Think God built into the ecosystem natural checks and balances, as we go into cycles of being colder to warmer , regardless of humanity!

Atheists invent crisis to exploit others. We are to be good stewards of our environment. In Boy Scouts, they taught us to leave our camp in better shape than when we found it. Thus we would remove our litter, and restore the natural condition. If we set aside the claim that our energy consumption will harm the future, we should be able to agree our water and air pollution should be curtailed.

Where we run into discord is when we say do without rather than do with better...

I totally agree that changes in climate, in either direction, are part of God's plan. If He chooses to use human-caused greenhouse gas emissions to arm the climate, it's no less a part of that plan. Likewise if it turns out that CO2 has no significant part in a warming climate - if God's will is for warmer climate, that's what will occur. As Van noted, we are to be good and careful stewards of God's creation.
IMO, changing climate via greenhouse gases is like stopping a supertanker; lots of "effort" is exerted before much change is noted. Thus the early decades of the Industrial Revolution only started the process. Today's far more mobile and greater population is emitting a lot more of those gases than even WW2, though there may have been short periods during that conflict that exceeded average daily emissions today.

The climate goes through natural, minor fluctuations due to sunspot activity which ebbs and flows by the decade or century.

No man made problem. No man made solution.

God is not punishing or rewarding with the weather.

    peace to you

Just look at the stats about coal used during the "industrial revolution" & the petroleum used in WW2, plus the tonnage of gunpowder used. The petroleum usage was greater then. Remember, many ships used crude oil as fuel, & there were many more ships at sea during the war. Now, merchant ships are huge, & use no more fuel than a smaller merchant ship of a generation ago. They sacrifice speed for fuel efficiency, and modern engines are more fuel-efficient. And again, some of the worst winters in both Europe & Asia were during WW2.

Two effects caused by man WAS observed during WW2-there were some storms brought about after extensive bombing raids over Germany, & the cause was later found to be the concussions & repeated shock waves from the bombs. And in New Guinea & Myanmar (then, Burma) the monsoon seasons began a coupla weex earlier after extensive battle with many shells fired by artillery, & hundreds of thousands of small arms rounds were fired.

Science should study the ice ages & what ended them more. But it seems most likely the main cause was that the poles of rotation were different. Seems the north pole was in the upper third of Greenland.

Take a globe which can detatch from its frame & turn it so the upper half of Greenland is on top. Then, check the orientation of the continents. You'll see North America is quite a bit closer to the north pole if it's in Greenland, while Antarctica is not at the south pole any more. This could explain why there has been plant life, even some small trees found frozen in the ground on Antarctica-plants that cannot grow there now. This theory is just conjecture now, but the evidence that much of North America was covered with glaciers & that plants grew in Antarctica that can't grow there now cannot be dismissed.

And there's evidence that the earth's MAGNETIC poles are moving now. Remember, earth's core is made of liquid iron & is a huge magnet. Being liquid, it could wibble-wobble & alter the magnetic poles & fields.

I still believe global warming is beyond our control.

Each sun cycle is 11 years long.

We have no idea how long the cycles last. Same with “climate” data. We have only been keeping records for 100 years, give or take. For all we know, there is a natural “cycle” that occurs every 500 years, or every 1000 years.

I doubt the earth ever changed its “tilt”. I’ve heard the theories, but they seem unscientific to me. Lots of speculation. No real evidence.

    peace to you

When I was a kid - when it snowed in Oct - we would not see green grass until April
Nowdays - we may still get the same amount of snow per year - but often much of the snow
will melt. We may go a week or two with little if no snow on the ground. Then it will snow again
    and then it melts.....

The question is when will the winter temperature get lower and we will not see any green gas
    for the rest of winter.....

That sounds a lot like Missouri. We occasionally have severe winter weather, but it rarely last more than a couple of weeks.

You guys with the lake effect snow have real winter.

    peace to you

Then, please explain how the frozen plants found in Antarctica came to be there.

Also, core samples drilled from very-old glaciers, ice sheets, and trees give us some intel about climates in some areas in ancient times, as well as do fossils, including those found in coal.

Climate change will happen according to the Scriptures.

However, such change is not the result of human contributions, but of God’s judgement.

imo, the enemies of Christ are preemptively using the message of climate change now, so, when Gos does bring judgement to the earth, the people will turn away from God and blame the industry of nations removing God from their thinking.

"...An intense warming phase occurred 52 million years ago, leading tropical vegetation, including palms and relatives of today's tropical Baobab trees, to grow on the continent’s now frozen coasts.

The surprising discovery came from a study of drill cores obtained from the seafloor near Antarctica. The results, published in the journal Nature, show that warm ocean currents and high carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the air boosted temperatures, allowing tropical vegetation to grow where visitors today meet only icebergs and freezing cold.'''"

Where did you live as a kid? We lived ten years (1976-85) near the northern tip of Maine and never came close to having an October start to continuous snow cover, though in 1982 the cover lasted thru May 3.

And for canadyjd: I think Robycop3's 11-year "sun" cycles referred to the sunspot cycle, not some much longer changes.

Speculation isn’t science. I’ve heard the stories of plants in Antarctica , Mammoths frozen standing up and so on. I saw a video of man claiming he was with a group that found Noah’s arc after a glacier melted and an atheist attempted to chop it up with an axe because he knew it would prove the Bible true.

I haven’t seen scientific studies that confirmed the finds.

    peace to you

I did understand that. My point is the 11 year cycle has only been recently observed and may not reflect longer cycles that haven’t been observed.

    peace to you

This was in the late 50's, early 60's.
A lot of the snow comes from lake effect.

It is sad that so many Christians are disobedient to God’s first command to man to steward creation and sees destruction and making a place unliveable for future generations as what God intended by ruling or reigning.
