This is just the latest version of the ‘666 buying and selling’ lunacy that has been going around for many, many years.

Every few years, we are ‘on the edge’ of this happening. I heard it in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and occasionally in this millennium, even though I have minimal contact with those who regularly spread these views.

Usually it is supposed to happen shortly after the church is “raptured” away before the tribulation (yet another distortion of scripture).

 

Revelation 13.16-18

16.And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand, or on their forehead,

17.and he provides that no one should be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.

18.Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, the number is that of a man, and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.

The mark is a microchip, complete electronic control of our valuables (money), movement, and even entire history of our medical and physical condition, education, family history, vote history, work history, criminal history, and much more.

All of that on a single microchip. Perhaps also included you viewing history of internet, TV, Phone, and buying habits.

This microchip also will be able to pinpoint you location and track all your movement, just like GPS.

That's complete speculation based on a misinterpretation of scripture regarding the mark.

This is not in the future. Your smartphone is already doing all these things.

 

Most likely surgical, just like dogs have their microchip under the skin.

It also may be implanted into the bone.

This microchip technology also be in form of Tattoo.

In any way it must be implanted in such way that it would be difficult to remove or extract.

About few years ago I seen on TV the first trial of this technology, when a guy has implant of microchip in his hand and he purchased with it some stuff from convenient store just like he would with a credit card.

I do not remember the name of the company that developed this chip, but for sure some other companies working of the same thing.

 

Here I am not talking about everyday devices and phones what can track our location, listening, and even view us through the camera.

I am talking here about device that very mush have it all and permanently implanted in human body.

Revelation is written to believers who knew both the Old Testament and Jesus, and were familiar with apocalyptic literature. The vast majority of the imagery in Revelation directly references the Old Testament.

The original readers of the Apocalypse were very familiar with this passage:

Deuteronomy 6:4-9
4 “Hear, Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! 5 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. 7 And you shall repeat them diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. 8 You shall also tie them as a sign to your hand, and they shall be as frontlets on your forehead. 9 You shall also write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.​

The hand symbolizes your actions in the world - what you do, what you create, and the influence you have. The forehead symbolizes one's thoughts, intent, and meditations. It is living a life oriented in worship of God and doing His works.

When the original readers of Revelation 13 understood that "the beast" (the corrupt system of the world personified by Caesar Nero = 666) wanted to make everyone worship Caesar ("Jesus is Lord" was both a political and theological statement in the Roman Empire). The image of the current Caesar was on all of the coinage, and Caesar wanted everyone to think in a idolatrous manner (mark on the forehead) or at least act in accordance to the idolatrous customs and will (mark on the hand) of Caesar.

Revelation was focused on the present situation of severe persecution at the time of Nero, with references toward the distant future when Jesus will return and set the world straight.
