I was being facetious and I suspected that LeBuick was being facetious also. After all I've talked about individualism I find it hard to fathom that you of all people would take a statement of mine poking fun of collectivism serious.
If all it takes to lose credibility with you is making fun of collectivist thought then I suspect that I'll never live up to your expectations and to that I say...big deal. I'm not here to live up your standards anyway.
Facetious.....stinky....yes, that may be right.
I found it difficult to follow your logic or that of LeBuick, and certainly didn't find it funny. If you wish to make a point that people mischaracterise or generalize with labels.... why don't you say so rather than obscure your communication by doing the same?
As for my standards.... forget it. You live by your own which is important for you. But I will say...... I find there is enough attack on Christianity.... and I wont say it is all without cause... because I see there is much lack of discipline..... still, when someone should recognize the identification of a person's behavior with mental illness..... he is mischaracterizing that person and his behavior by deliberately lying and referring to it as "Christian" which it clearly is not. It is sad enough that the news only reluctantly or almost as an after thought, presents this information.... after making an association with an anti-abortion cause... which many do associate as a Christian movement.
How many uninformed people see the same statements or news reports and conclude as LeBuick reports it ..... and how many times does the same thing get repeated..... without the facts..... before people associate all anti-abortionist as Christians.... and anti-abortionists as terrorist and criminals.... and infer that Christians are terrorist and criminals? What is facetious is the falacy of his statement.... And the supporting response.
You, yourself, are no doubt familiar that in some instances, other than the one opening this thread, there have been 'agent provacatuers' which enter into movements and groups to either incite others or who initiate an action, which is not originating in the group.... but results in defaming and mischaracterization of a group with the idea of impeaching their voice, credibility, and character. :tear:
So you believe that by endorsing a similar construction, you have 'facetiously' proved a point... Non-sense. The intent was not nearly as clear as the construct of the words and their meaning.
You have a lot of good to say.... but I will not say that that post of yours or his is a stellar moment.... a cellar moment perhaps...but not stellar.
