--We have the muslims who follow allah and their bible is the Quran.
--The Buddhists follow a fat, happy man named Buddha. Theravada Buddhists have the Pali Canon they follow. The Mayayana Buddhists have the Heart Sutra and Diamond Sutras.
--The Hindus have a group of text known as the Vedas.
--Taoists have no bible, but have the 'I Ching'...
--Shintos have no bible....
--Jainists have the Jain Sutras...
Once you leave the firm foundation of scripture, you sink...fast...
No new biblical books have been written since John was on Patmos...
Google the accounts of these dreams. Here is a typical sample:
“One night, while I was asleep, I had this horrible dream of me being taken into hell. And what I saw there brought me real fear, and these dreams kept coming to me almost every night. At this point I was really wondering as to why I should be seeing hell in this manner,” he wrote at Answering-Islam.
He said Jesus appeared to him and said: “Son, I am the way, the truth and the life. And if you would give your life to Me, and follow Me, I would save you from the hell that you have seen.
God doesn't preach via dreams. There's no biblical support for such a claim. God told them to go forth and preach the gospel to everyone. He doesn't do this via dreams.
You're assuming I believe these stories are true.
I don't just so you know.
Considering that WOF, Prosperity Gospel is the world wide face of Christianity, making sensational claims with no way to back it up is not uncommon nor is it unexpected.
There are so many of them out there to discount all of them. To flat out say that God doesn't work in this manner is limiting an Almighty God. Why would a Muslim make up such a story? Why would missionaries make up these stories?
Perhaps you should research this topic.
Ah, but they claim special revelation not of salvation or the gospel but rather of personal insights into what God wants them or others to do.
Because it sells.
God is Sovereign yes, but God also cannot contradict Himself and He is not going to give Special Revelation when it is clear that the Canon of Scripture is closed. Unless you want to make the argument that it is not closed?
Doing that right now one Google.
I'm not impressed.
Special Revelation is Special Revelation and either you have to say that the Canon is not closed or you have a problem here.
I don't keep saying it, God avers it via His word...
But what doth it say? `Nigh thee is the saying -- in thy mouth, and in thy heart:' that is, the saying of the faith, that we preach; that if thou mayest confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and mayest believe in thy heart that God did raise him out of the dead, thou shalt be saved, for with the heart doth [one] believe to righteousness, and with the mouth is confession made to salvation; for the Writing saith, `Every one who is believing on him shall not be ashamed,'(Romans 10:8-11 YLT)
Verses 8-11 lay the groundwork for how sinners are saved...and here's how they're saved...
How then shall they call upon [him] in whom they did not believe? and how shall they believe [on him] of whom they did not hear? and how shall they hear apart from one preaching? and how shall they preach, if they may not be sent? according as it hath been written, `How beautiful the feet of those proclaiming good tidings of peace, of those proclaiming good tidings of the good things!'(vss 14,15)
--for I am not ashamed of the good news of the Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation to every one who is believing, both to Jew first, and to Greek.(Rom. 1:16 YLT)
--for, seeing in the wisdom of God the world through the wisdom knew not God, it did please God through the foolishness of the preaching to save those believing.(1 Cor. 1:21 YLT)
--in whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth -- the good news of your salvation -- in whom also having believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of the promise,(Eph. 1:13 YLT)
--and by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace that [is] towards me came not in vain, but more abundantly than they all did I labour, yet not I, but the grace of God that [is] with me; whether, then, I or they, so we preach, and so ye did believe.(1 Cor. 15:10,11 YLT)
