Not to worry, something will come along and save the day. Mighty mouse used to be good at that, have we sent out the signal - you know that bat in the sky, or was that for batman - oh well someone can figure it out, I just want my toys and comfort. :tear:
It was just reported a couple days ago that Portland, OR is over 4 billion in debt and borrowing money to cover interest on debts they already have. Yet, they are planning more light rail routes at millions of dollars while NOT investing in current roads or needed expansion of same roads. One city planner declared that if we choke traffic and slow people down it will be safer for the drivers.
Now that is the way to run a city! -
On the Social Security issue, here is an analysis of the Diamond-Orszag proposal that I support - "the first Social Security reform proposal that is fully "paid for." -

Didn't read it all but can't imagine state/local workers nor their unions allowing that to happen. In OR most state workers retire on more monthly than they were making when they were working. (Not anything against them, they are only taking what the DUMB government agreed to give them.)

We should immediately stop all spending to include entitlement programs, foreign aid, etc. If I thought it would not be otherwise disasterous I would include the spending on Iraq. Until we get this debt under control. And the ultimatel goal should be balancing the budget not acrueing a surplus.

We also need to immediately cut Medicaid and Social Security to current retirees. We also need to put Social Security and Medicaid taxes in a lock box.

All of this is way too late.
Why is there outrage now - why wasn't Beck complaining when the GOP was spending at unprecedented levels?
Just curious,

I used to live in Tampa, and when Glenn Beck was on the air locally (prior to 2001), he was very clearly a Republican. When he took the national stage, he could have been saying this, but didn't. During the years when the GOP controlled all three branches of government, they ran up massive deficits. Now that the GOP doesn't control Congress, it is suddenly an issue for him.
Again: all this concern is way too late. -
Nothing personal, but Oregon is an economic backwater. If not for your pot growing . . . . I drive through Oregon and California several times every year. One can feel the electricity in the air in Cal or WA. In Oregon, nothing. I suspect it is because half the state if Federal Govt property. That and your tax policy.
