I cal it the sovereignty of God.

So what do you have against Pro.16;9;21:1; Ps. 115:3; Jn. 15:5?
The Bible is considerably older than a mere 500 years.
I have told you before that you need to study legitimate Church history though you have claimed that you majored in it and theology!

If you want to maintain a veneer of respectability you might want to acknowledge some figures in Church History who were Calvinistic long before the man of Geneva arrived on the scene. Hint :I have supplied some names for you in the past. But you need to do some of your own homework.

    The problem remains the same:

‘Christ died equally for all but is only efficacious on the condition of faith.’

John 3:16 does not allow for your interpretation.

Eternal life is the effect of the cause.

The cause is not man’s faith.

    The cause is Christ's death.

You insist, as do many on this board, that unless man believes, Christ’s death is ineffectual.

Thus, you make man’s faith the effectual cause of eternal life, Christ’s sacrifice remaining ineffectual for most.

    Scripture says no such thing.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

The eternal intention of God was to sacrifice Christ to procure eternal life for men worldwide.

The men intended to be recipients of this gift are believers worldwide.

Your claim is that the eternal intention of God was two-fold:

    1. To give the gift of Christ to all equally.

    2. Not to give the gift to all equally, but only to those with faith.

Do you not see the quagmire in which you have beset yourself?

You posit conflicting intentions on the infinitely all-wise God.

Scripture, on the other hand, does not contradict itself.

Christ’s sinless life, death and resurrection were of such infinite value and efficacy that all spiritual blessings necessary for sinners to not only achieve justification, but to receive glorification were purchased by the merits of Christ.

Do you really expect our infinitely all-wise and all-powerful God to allow His Son’s excruciating holy sacrifice to fail to save even one person for whom it was intended?

If so, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. (Romans 8:33)

Paul plainly states justification is all of God.

Justification is by grace…..grace is of God.

Justification is by blood……..blood is of God.

Justified by Christ’s resurrection…….resurrection is of God.

Justification is by faith……….our faith is of God.

Justified by works…….our works are of God.

    Paul goes on to say:

Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. (v.34)

No one for whom Christ died can ultimately be condemned.

Which brings us back to John 3:16.

Christ did not die for those who will ultimately be condemned.

Rather His death secured eternal life for all those whom God chose not to condemn: The Elect.

That is what John 3:16 teaches and so many other scriptures.
That is the only interpretation it allows.

It is ineffectual for that individual. It is not ineffectual for all that believe. It remains effectual for that person as long as he lives, as long as he has the opportunity to believe. This age is the age of grace. One he dies he faces judgement.
Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
    No, Christ did.
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Joh 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
    God's will is:
    That all men should repent.
    That no one should perish.
That all men would be saved.
And to that end he made a propitiation, not for us only but for the sins of the whole world.

Except a man believe in Christ he cannot be saved. To reject the sacrifice of Christ is the biggest insult and sin man can make.

And man's acceptance of that provision. What if he rejects such a wonderful pardon. Some have done that even in modern history.

It is not intended for those who of their own will reject it.

No one here denies that salvation is all of God.

God does not give faith to the unsaved. That is ridiculous and not taught in the Bible. God does not force man to believe or force salvation on anyone. You look upon salvation as God being the "Great Puppeteer" and all we His "puppets." It doesn't work that way. We are not simply robots.

After we are saved done willingly.

A verse that applies to believers not to the unsaved.

Christ died for the world. Christ said he died for the world. He didn't lie. Your theology blinds you to the truth of His word and obliges you to change the meaning of the simple wording of the Word of God. That is pitiful.
God so loved the world... It is very simple, really. It needs no extra Calvinistic interpretation. Read it and interpret it for what it says.
