John Smith was the only Protestant to move into a large Catholic neighborhood. On the first Friday of Lent, John was outside grilling a big juicy steak on his grill.
Meanwhile, all of his neighbors were eating cold tuna fish for supper. This went
on each Friday of Lent. On the last Friday of Lent, the neighborhood men got together and decided that something had to be done about John, he was tempting them to eat meat each Friday of Lent, and they couldn't take it anymore.
They decided to try and convert John to be a Catholic. They went over and
talked to him and were so happy that he decided to join all of his neighbors and become a Catholic. They took him to Church, and the Priest sprinkled some water over him, and said, "You were born a Baptist, you were raised a Baptist, and now you are a Catholic."
The men were so relieved, now their biggest Lenten temptation was resolved.
The next year's Lenten season rolled around. The first Friday of Lent came, and just at supper time, when the neighborhood was setting down to their tuna fish dinner, came the wafting smell of steak cooking on a grill.
The neighborhood men could not believe their noses! WHAT WAS GOING ON? They called each other up and decided to meet over in John's yard to see
if he had forgotten it was the first Friday of Lent?
The group arrived just in time to see John standing over his grill with a small pitcher of water. He was sprinkling some water over his steak on the grill, saying, "You were born a cow, you were raised a cow, and now you are a fish."
A little Lenten humor

psalm, good humor usually has a basis in real life. This joke of yours does not have that.
"You were born a Baptist, you were raised a Baptist, and now you are a Catholic."
This is simply fiction. This does not approximate any words uttered during a Baptism in the Catholic Church, nor any church I would hazard.
He was sprinkling some water over his steak on the grill, saying, "You were born a cow, you were raised a cow, and now you are a fish."
Again, no basis in Catholic practice.
What is the point to this exercise other than to display your dislike for Catholics?
BTW, if you thought that this was a joke, why didn't you put it into the humor forum? -
Baptists can make fun of themselves too:
This evil house painter named Bob had gotten into the practice of adding water to his paint so that he could thin the paint and cut costs. Well, he was painting the side of this old Church when a terrible storm rolled in and washed all the paint off the walls. Just then, Bob heard a voice from the sky cry out, "Repaint, Repaint, and Thin no more!" -
Adam,
Has the drama king returned? :D
Just kidding...
Seriously, it is good to see you again.

A joke?
No, it's meant as a dig.
Why this part of the board?
So Catholics would see it. -
If it was meant to be a dig, you certainly are giving him exactly what he wants by reacting so negatively to it. HINT: He wants it to bother you. Ignore it and the dig just turns into a harmless joke.

I was hoping to nudge psalm into looking at his intent in posting it. Perhaps by doing that, he can grow in his walk. -
Our pastor told this one in his sermon last Sunday!! He started it like it was a serious illustration, and took us completely by surprise! The whole church was on
the floor laughing.
As to the original joke, I thought it was a cute joke, aimed at all people. Don't we all sometimes want to find a loophole through the rules?? -
Here is some Baptist humor to brighten Trying's day a little. He seems to be in a bad mood today.
Q: Why should you never ask one Baptist over to watch football with you, but instead always invite two?
A: Invite one, he'll drink all your beer.
Invite two and neither of them will drink a drop! -

It's a joke. Lighten up. Jokes are not always theologically correct, such as Saint Peter at the pearly gates. Neither do they have to be. Now everyone, take a deep breath, laugh a little bit and let's get back to our serious discussions where we argue about why the Catholic Church is a pagan cult. :D

What's the one about Baptist never recognizing each other in the liquor store? LOL
Goodness folks! We need to laugh at ourselves and not take things too seriously! Afterall, Baptist are just like cats....... punch line withheld. ;)

This is the Christian DEBATE Forum.
That the story is a joke is debatable. -
That there is a thread set up just for Lenten humour is hard to understand.
-
I'll transfer this to the humor section. That way Dr. Bob can be blessed by dealing with the complaints instead of me. :D
