Another post that I am ashamed is even allowed on the BB. The judgmental, bitter and vitriolic spirit of a "christian" upon other believers because they believe an English translation is NOT the only version is disappointing. :(

Peace and love to you all in Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour!

    --------------------------------------------------
Yes, changing from the Geneva to the KJV might be an answer to show you that the KJV is NOT "inspired" it is a translation of inspired words.
    --------------------------------------------------

    Phillip,

You really need to start approaching me without the labels. I will no longer answer your questions, until you can communicate with me without the bias of labels. You are misunderstanding me, and others because of this. I am tired of repeating myself to you, and so, until you can respect me, and make an honest effort to understand me without the label you attach to me, it is pointless for me to continue.

love in Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour,
    michelle

I have to be honest with you. I did not see this post, I think it slipped in between one of my posts and I completely missed it. For continuing to ask you about the NKJV, I appologize. Now let me get back to the subject and hand and discuss your answer.

Where in the world do you come up with the idea that the words of the ancient languages are better translated into "thee", "thou" and other words such as this. If this is the case, then it is the case for two completely different ancient languages: Hebrew AND Greek. This is by far the most INTERESTING explanation I have ever seen for not using the NKJV.

You yourself said that you would have no problem with a legitimate translation of the TR, but now you are backing away from that position.

Let's talk about footnotes. You may not like the footnotes, but they are simply making a statement that certain manuscripts either contain or do not contain something. Why in the world would you have a problem with that? Who made you the scholar who knows beyond doubt what manuscripts are the exactly like the original autographs.

See, this all boils down to you are using the KJV as the "standard" to test everything by. This is an English language translation. What makes you think that God would choose English to be the language that the Bible is preserved word-for-word.

You still haven't given a satisfactory answer as to the differences in the KJV since 1611? I repeat for the fourth time what you said: 2% rat poison is indeed poison and if your position of "word-for-word" accuracy of the KJV holds then ALL of those previous versions have GOT to be wrong. If God would allow typographical errors, why would he not allow translational errors, or manuscript errors.

Michelle, even the KJV translators did not rely on the TR as their only source of material. How in the world do we see the exact same verses and chapters appear from the Geneva? How do we explain the usage of the Vulgate as a final resort on early KJV translation? How do you explain that more than one manuscript was used to translate the Revelation of Jesus Christ of which all were different? Did they flip a coin and God made it roll to the right position?

Yes, the scholars of the KJV may have been very bright indeed, but they also used scholarship and textual criticism to make decisions to fill in the blanks.

Now, I will ask you again, WHY did the KJV HAVE to be translated if other English Bibles that were word-for-word perfect existed. You see, this IS relevant because I am asking you about the "origin" of the Bible that you claim is word-for-word perfect, and I am questioning that particular belief. By ignoring its origination you are avoiding answering relevant questions.

WHAT LABELS? I don't see any labels in that quote above? What labels are you talking about, Michelle? Don't get mad and walk out of the room because you don't have an answer. You are NOT answering the questions I am putting forth and I for one, specifically want to know what labels I have put on you?

You don't think you have put labels on people? Do you want a list?

You are wasting your time and keystrokes, Phillip

Michelle, I admire your stand, and I regard you as a true sister in Christ. I do not agree with you, but we can't all be perfect (or even close, as far as I'm concerned).

I love the word of God, in its MANY translations. I love looking up the words of the Hebrew and Greek. I love reading the various ways verses have been translated. I love the texture that God has given His truth, that it is not flat or dull.

It saddens me to see the blind ignorance being flaonted, as far as the King James Only stance goes. To actually see people who are too stubborn, too proud, or too ignorant to being to THINK for themselves, it tears at mt heart.

No man has the authority to limit God. To limit Him to a certain doctrine, to a certain denomination, to a certain translation, is sheer folly. The God that I serve is much, much bigger than that.

    In Christ,
    Trotter

Would you please explain what "the label" I have attached to you is?

Be honest with me Trotter. Be BLUNT and HONEST. Was I labeling her something that she had not labeled herself?

What is the label that I was using on her? Seriously, please tell me, if I have labeled her something she is not, I want to know, and I will correct it right now.

Do you know what the label is that she is referring to?

Michelle, If you will explain what Labels you are talking about maybe I can do something about it. Otherwise, I don't think it is very fair to make an accusation such as that and run off. Do YOU?

Just because I am not buying into your belief does not mean we have to take swipes at each other and I honestly don't know what you are talking about when you say "labels". So, I think it is only fair, that if you are going to make an accusation about what I am doing, you at least explain yourself.

Sorry, Phillip. I haven't seen or heard you use any 'labels' on Michelle.

Michelle chooses to hide behind her 'I believe because I believe, and everybody else is wrong' defense. Sort of like a turtle drawing its head back into its shell, with the same effect.

Michelle, Askjo, Will, A-A, and a few others who are no longer among us could easily be labeled, but to use the ones I have in mind would be very un-Christlike and would most certainly get me banned from the Board.

For someone to willingly wallow in ignorance while looking down their nose at everyone who does not share in their views drives me nuts. I cannot stand willful ignorance. I cannot stand false doctrine. KJVOnlyism proundly boasts of both while condemning everyone who does not shut their eyes to the truth and join them.

    In Christ,
    Trotter

Well I thought we were finally getting somewhere. I was trying my best to get her to focus on some questions, but all she seems to want to do is become a victim and whine about us; because she just can't get the truth through our thick skulls. Ah, well...... [IMG]

The victim mentality is alive and well here in America.

It is so much easier to claim that 'My faith can beat up your faith' rather than to actually open their mind to think.

Christianity is not based on blind faith, but on an informed faith. One must believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died to pay for our sins, and that He was raised the third day and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. All of these are found in the Bible, but msut be acted upon. Being 'blind' does not allow such movement, but by being informed about the facts one can come to that saving knowledge.

All this KJVOnly garbage is truly sickening to me. The KJVO say one thing, but when the same criteria is used the other way they scream "FOUL!!!" And then they get all 'righteous' when we call them on their double standards.

It doesn't matter what proof or evidence is given, if it ain't the KJV it ain't right.

    In Christ,
    Trotter

I don't know of anyone who makes the original languages their idol. There are huge differences between the original languages and English. It is much like the difference between walking into a room with a 15 watt light bulb and a room with a 100 watt light bulb. You couldn't possibly know unless you study the language. I heard others say the same thing and couldn't possibly have understood what they told me until I began to study the languages.

I am not the one who made the choice to have His word written in those languages. He did. So who am I to question His choice. He never asked for my opinion and hasn't yet to his day.

Popcorn is only made through heat. Steel is only made through heat. Plastics are molded through heat. Perhaps the heat will have a positive effect of eternal value.

... hmmmm, hadn't thought of it that way, but "heat" is very effective or it wouldn't be used. Another interesting observation is that people are more afraid of dying in "fire" than any other way. Coincidental? I don't think so. [IMG]
