ITA; I am reminded of that by some of the people on this board!

I think many Christians say they love people, but really they are so consumed with themselves and their busyness, that the love of Christ is not evident to anyone else.

We are often, quick to judge and don't show the compassion and grace that was shown to us. I think we are particularly graceless to other Christians.

Thanks for letting us know, I can understand why they would say that. It's great you told them about all the Christian's that went there right away and all. Most of us know they are not worthless to God. Also I think, the lost will come up with excuses no matter what we all do. Anyway, great posts here.

    TexasSky sez:
TS, you're spitting in the wind if you think this is the reason "they" hate Christ.

No one acted more like a Christian than Christ Himself, and look what "they" did to Him.

Not to condone their observed reaction by "Christians" at all, but this is nothing more than an excuse to justify themselves (the ones condemning the Christians) and elevating themselves morally by pointing out the faults of others. Typical ploy of elevating self by degrading others.

If the complaints had been legitimate, IE a true evaluation of "Christians", then they would have been just as quick to recognize the "GOOD" done by others that serve under the name of Christ! By seeing only the bad, they can feel morally superior and have a reason(?) to deny any leanings toward Christ that is seen as a hinderance to "living life as I want". satan has done a great job in blinding many to truth!

    Just-Want-Peace,

With all due respect, I think you are splitting hairs.

If Christians did a better job of living the way Christ taught us to live, we wouldn't have to face these kinds of questions.

Certainly there would be other excuses, but the fact is, we GIVE them the best excuse of all every single time we act unChristian.

And frankly - look around you. Compare the number of people in this world to the number of people professing to be Christian, and compare the "good done in God's name."

The simple fact is the majority of professing Christians do little more than get up on Sunday and go to church. They don't even bother to tithe. If they did, the group of Christians that ARE out there helping people would have already changed the world in terms of hunger and poverty. They can't because other Christians don't.

How many pastor's will get notices this week that their congregation can't meet the payroll? How many missionaries waiting to go into the field will be told, "You can only go if you are 100% self-sufficient because there just is not any funding for the mission field?" How many groups are no longer giving away bibles because no one funds it?

How many activities will be cancelled because no one from the church participated? I saw that in my own town. The Baptist run orphanage painting had to be rescheduled because workers didn't show up. The paint and brushes and drop clothes were there, but the Christians weren't.

We have GOT to stop making excuses.

I don't believe that Christ will accept, "Well, they would hate us anyway," or "well, they wouldn't have believed even if we had been more loving."

Christ did not say, "Love them if they are worthy." He did not say, "Help them if helping them will make them stop badmouthing me." He didn't say, "Love them if they love me or you back." He said, "Love your enemies." He said "Do more than the heathen."

We have GOT to listen to Christ.

  9. Texas I think one of the biggest problems we have as Christians living in America is WE HAVE IT WAY TO EASY or most do anyway.

If you look at other countries and church history MOST Christians are persecuted for their faith.
Maybe if more Christians were tried through the fire in America we would depend on God more and seek to please HIM and not ourselves.
